I wish I could give this book more than 5 stars. I loved Sydney and definitely related to her story. Didn’t necessarily see the ending coming but loved it!

The only reason this isn’t a 5 is because the main character, Sydney, was one of the most obnoxious characters I’ve ever read in a book! She as slated as almost 35 but I would swear she was actually 22. In the end I did feel some sense of pity and sympathy for her though and liked her ending. Having the story go back and forth between her and Tom was so interesting! And  it worked well. Tom was a mysterious character that was hard to crack. Is her a serial killer or is he wildly misunderstood? Guess you’ll have to read it to find out!

I thought I figured out the book all along but I was so far from figuring it out.
Freida did it again. I wouldn’t say this is her best book but it’s definitely a great book to read and gets you out of the slump.

**I will start by saying that I am slowly building my way into audiobooks so my opinion on the book might be linked to the fact that I listened to it instead of reading it.**

I loved The Housemaid so I was very excited to read another one from the author, especially as someone for whom thrillers isn't my usual go-to. But I found the Boyfriend a bit... boring? The double-narration with the extra layer of past/present threw me off and made it hard to dive in the story.

I didn't especially like the characters. Sydney was a bit too "cliché" and I just found her annoying. Not relatable. The male protagonists were the same, no depth to them.

The plot twist at the end wasn't as twisted as I hoped (maybe I knew one was coming so I didn't think it was "breaking news" 😅).

A bit of a disappointment for me personally!
