Summer means Elin Hilderbrand books for me, and this one did not disappoint! Loved all the characters and getting to spend time jumping from one to the other. Definitely different than her others, as it included more historical elements.
Meh....that's pretty much how I feel. I can't say that I hated it but I do feel like it is 5 hours of my life that I will never get back. It's been done. The story, the season, the timeline, the teenage angst, even the closer look at Chappaquiddick ...all been done. Not one of her better in my opinion.
This was an easy, enjoyable read. Perfect for a weekend full of driving. There was lots to love and think about, yet nothing extremely deep or moving.
Man, I loved this book! It's the second Elin Hilderbrand book I've read. I was intrigued after hearing it's her first foray into historical fiction. This book follows the Foley/Levin family in Nantucket against the backdrop of the summer of 1969: the moon landing, Vietnam, Chappaquiddick, and Woodstock.
I love how Hilderbrand wrote the main characters: Kate, Blair, Kirby, and Jessie. Each had a distinct story. I especially loved 13-year-old Jessie. Hilderbrand wrote a compelling coming-of-age story that I think will resonate with many women.
As with the other Hilderbrand book I've read, Summer of '69 makes me want to pack my bags and spend all my summers on Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket.

Great light summer read that you can't put down. Make a playlist of the chapter names, it is amazing!
