Was not really for me.

2.5 I disliked how every possible loose end was tied up so perfectly at the close of the story. Before the last 50 pages or so I was enjoying the book much more.

I felt it about 3.5. I enjoyed seeing the perspective of the period, but I am not a fan of multiple narrators in a story. I also felt the ending was rather meh!

My first Hilderbrand read. This was a lovely summer book. I loved the characters and how the story continued to move forward. I’m also a sucker for some good historical references so this was a lot of fun.

My first Elin Hilderbrand book and loved every second of it! It's a perfect summer read with rich characters, beautiful scenery, and family secrets. I was transported to Nantucket in the summer and can't wait to read more.

I felt like I didn’t get to know the characters in very much depth, but I liked what I did learn about them. I love how the author wove historical events into each character’s story (though I suppose that’s what historical fiction authors do). I was pretty happy with the book until the third part - I felt like it was just rushed and too much time had passed between parts 2 and 3. I wanted to keep reading more and more about November 1969. Overall, really enjoyable. Great read.

Two ssyrs. If I had to describe thus book in one work it would be "contrived." I was very disappointed.
