The Golden Tower was a great ending to this series. I loved how everything played out and wrapped up. This is a fantastic series for anyone who likes magic, fantasy, friendship, and coming of age stories. I highly recommend it.

I can't give it a full 5/5 because there was still some relationship stuff I found dumb, BUT it was actually an extremely satisfying ending! There were some really good twists (Cal's dad) and some dark stuff (Aaron and Alex) that made it really interesting and pushed some middle grade boundaries, at least in my opinion. I also want to re-read this series at some point from the POV of it being a comentary/parody of similar middle grade books because I have a theory about that. Overall very happy that I read the series this year, not the best in terms of writing and some of the relationships were really annoying, and yet the plot was great and very different from other magical school books!

I read this whole series in 10 days! I couldn't stop even for a minute. Thank goodness I bought the whole series when the last book was out.

Den sidste bog skuffede mig lidt (men ikke min datter). Alex som kaosfortæret er lidt ensidig efter min smag. Til gengæld var afslutningen fin.

This was a re-read and I clearly remember it being better. Right now, I’m so confused and disappointed my review isn’t going to make any sense.
TGT was extremely rushed. I understand the limit of time given to the characters to complete their mission builds the tension, but some parts felt like they were written as fast as possible.
The plot and characters were actually ok, even Gwenda (who was completely unnecessary, but still fun to read about). There was a bit of character development and Anastasia’s role was pretty great.
That said, this book could be a four stars if it wasn’t for the Maugris “plot-twist”. Seriously, why? There wasn’t any foreshadowing or important consequences, so it didn’t make sense for the authors to add it. It made pointless the plot of book four and most of the premise of the series. It’s not that bad, it just shouldn’t have been thrown during the last book. Unless a series about the Collegium is written (which I doubt), it will forever feel out of place.
And, talking about things out of place, this entire book felt out of place. It was lighter and more juvenile than all the other books, including the first one. Being the conclusion to the series, it should have more depth and not as much silly jokes and teenage romance. I’m not saying those things are wrong, they just don’t fit the general tone of Magisterium.

But anyway—(I cannot be bothered to write my usual long reviews so here’s a short one!)
Rereading these now, about 5/6 years after they were my favourite series ever, I see them differently.
While they’re not bad, per se, they’re also not the masterpieces I used to think they were.
Such is the horror of growing up.
The writing feels so childish at times, (probably bcos they’re meant for children) and everything always see to be fixed remarkably quickly.
But, however many niggles I have with it now, I’ll still give it 4 stars. Mostly for nostalgia, and Call’s sense of humour which always makes me laugh even now!

Der Schreibstil von Cassandra Clare und Holly Black konnte mich, wie bereits in den anderen Bänden auch, vollkommen mit sich reißen. Ich hatte unglaublich Spaß (und war auch wehmütig) ein letztes Mal in diese Welt einzutauchen.
Zu Anfang des Buches erfährt man etwas das mit Call und einer geliebten Person zu tun hat, ich war ziemlich überrascht, aber auch irgendwie nicht. Diese Wendung hat mich wirklich sehr amüsiert und bewegt - zudem habe ich meine ganz eigene Theorie und auch Hoffnung gebildet, wie das Ganze denn jetzt weitergehen könnte. Tatsächlich habe ich Recht behalten und es ist das passiert, was ich insgeheim gehofft habe - dennoch weiß ich nicht, ob das jetzt überwiegend gut oder eher weniger gut ist. Dennoch habe ich mich unglaublich für alle Charaktere gefreut!
Call hat mich in diesem Buch positiv überrascht und ich konnte mich wirklich zusammen mit ihm "verbünden". Auch Tamara hat mich positiv überrascht, dennoch fand ich Ihr Verhalten teilweise etwas komisch und wusste nicht genau, wie Sie zu gewissen Menschen steht. Jasper hat mich unglaublich positiv überrascht und sich definitiv, zusammen mit Gwenda, in mein Herz eingeschlichen. Mein Lieblingscharakter, wie könnte es auch anders sein, war Master Rufus. Dennoch muss ich anführen, dass mich Warren und auch Calls Vater mehr als positiv überrascht haben. Calls Vater hat etwas Unglaubliches getan und ich konnte nicht anders und hatte Tränen in den Augen - am Anfang hatten wir definitiv unsere Probleme miteinander, aber die sind auf jeden Fall, seit einigen Bänden sogar, mehr als vergessen!
Die Handlung an sich ging sehr schnell voran und konnte mich wirklich packen - ich war ständig auf Hochspannung und habe auf die nächste Katastrophe gewartet und deswegen ist dieser Band auch mein Liebling aus der ganzen Reihe. Ich war besonders fasziniert von der Ausarbeitung mancher magischer Wesen/Kreaturen und konnte nur staunen! Mit Hilfe einer Person wird in Calls Kopf etwas freigelassen, dies sorgt dafür, dass nicht nur er, sondern auch die Leser mehr als verblüfft sind! Ich fand diese Wendung unheimlich gut und hätte mir auch gerne noch mehr dazu erfahren.
Das Ende dieser Reihe fand ich schön und natürlich auch traurig. Ich finde, dass das Ende sehr offen ist und definitiv Spielraum für Spekulationen lässt - ich hätte mir noch gerne die ein oder andere Frage beantworten lassen, aber ich nehme mal an, dass ich das dann wohl mit mir selber ausmachen darf.
Fazit
Alles in allem bekommt das Buch 5 von 5 Sterne von mir.
Es war definitiv mein Lieblingsband aus der ganzen Reihe - wie beschrieben konnte mich das Buch unglaublich fesseln und ich wollte es gar nicht aus der Hand legen!
Ich kann jedem von euch nur empfehlen: schaut euch die Reihe mal an - sie hat definitiv mehr Aufmerksamkeit verdient und ich finde, dass Sie durchweg gut ist!
