Pretty light book. I really liked it, though. The characters all had their own little quirks and were distinct from one another. I appreciated the main characters perspective on things and how she processed her husband's death. A sweet and often amusing book.

PS, I Love You is a well-written story about redemption, forgiveness, and moving on. Touching and depressing, but sweet.
Positive messages: 3/5
You can’t stay in sadness; you have to move on. If someone truly loves you, they will want you to be happy. Characters learn the importance of friends that will be there for you, no matter what. Friends that will forgive you and uplift you in your time of need. Great family relationships are shown and bad ones are restored. There is lots of drinking and worldly topics that are hinted upon such as premarital sex, stripping, and partying.
Positive role models: 3.5/5
Gerry, Holly’s deceased husband, writes encouraging letters to her to help her to move on. You can tell from the flashbacks and letters that he loved his wife very much and wanted her to be happy.
Holly, throughout the novel, learns that she is stronger and braver than she thought before. She learns to be bold, try new things, and move on. She does have her moments and difficulties but during those times of grief, her friends are there to uplift her and give her words of wisdom.
Daniel is an understanding and kind friend to Holly throughout the novel, giving her advice and patiently waiting as she cries.
Holly’s best friends, Denise and Sharon, are forgiving and understanding and love Holly even though she makes mistakes. You can tell they have a true friendship.
Holly’s family—from her brothers and sisters to her parents—are supportive throughout her journey. You see how they help and forgive her and give her good advice.
Drinking, Drugs, and Smoking: 4/5
Throughout the novel, there are lots of bar scenes. Characters get drunk, party, and dance constantly. Holly drinks wine, vodka, etc., which her friends encourage. A teen is caught trying to buy cigarettes underage and is later found smoking.
Language: 4.5/5
‘S**t,’ ‘damn,’ ‘b***h,’ and ‘hell’ are used frequently. ‘D**k,’ ‘f**k,’ ‘bastard,’ ‘crap,’ and ‘’ are mildly used.
Violence, Gore, and Scariness: 1/5
A drunk character tries to forcefully kiss another character before he is stopped. Characters feel intense grief and depression because of the loss of loved ones due to cancer, which is not scary, per say, but may be triggering.
Sex, Romance, and Nudity: 2.5/5
A husband does a ‘striptease’ in front of his wife. A party sort of like a bachelorette party takes place, a stripper described. Characters kiss. Characters briefly recall making love.
What Parents Should Know:
Alright, I loved this novel. I can’t put it any other way. Beautifully written with characters that really come to life and touch your heart! OMIGOSH! They felt so real and were so well developed. Some positive messages and role models are shown, but there aren’t any Christian topics. In fact, lots of worldly things are hinted upon or discussed.
For content, There is one gay guy that says that he is so ‘tired of dating guys’ that he might as well turn straight. However, he is a side character and appears very few times in the novel. I don’t think that should be the reason for not reading this book. Leo is the only gay character. Some worldly topics discussed include stippers (shown in a positive light), drinking/party scenes, language (‘f**k,’ ‘s**t,’ ‘b***h,’ ‘damn,’ ‘d**k,’ etc.) and premarital sex (only briefly mentioned, no sexual scenes). On the positive side, there are really good friendships and family relationships displayed and characters display empathy, love, patience, and forgiveness throughout the novel.
Overall, well-written, sweet, and an AMAZING read. I wouldn’t change a thing (except maybe the language)! I look forward to reading the sequel and (maybe) watching the movie! I LOVED IT!!

Took a really long time before I finished this book. Not because it's bad but because I kept putting it down when I feel like crying (which happened many times). But glad I read it 'cause it's really good. :D
wonderful book :* ..oh I loved the book ..the letters written to holly by Gerry are heart touching and they seem to b soulmates and they share a perfect love story
I wanted to read this one before the movie and I really did enjoy the story! Holly's husband Jerry dies and she is left with no job and no life. Then she receives an envelop from Jerry which contains more envelopes, one for each month of what is left of the year. So each month she opens an envelop and receives a message from Jerry which helps her find her way again.
Wow, this book exceeded my expectations. This was a beautiful and realistic story.
