I had watched the movie that is based upon this book several years ago and have always held to the idea that the book is typically better than its movie counterpart. Now, it has been a while, so I don’t have the best recollection of the film, however, I do believe that they did a good job with some of the changes they made. Both the book and the film do well with portraying the difficulties of moving on after the loss of a loved one. If I remember correctly, though, the movie did include more scenes of Holly and Jerry’s relationship before his death, which made everything a bit more poignant. The book clearly focuses more on Holly’s relationships with her friends and family after his death, which is still a very interesting way to explore this topic.

Just didn't do it for me..........
I just couldn't relate to her grief, and her descriptions and interactions with her friends just seemed like a bad sitcom. It was a quick read, but I just felt irritated by the whole story! I know I'm a terrible person, but I don't enjoy a book just because it has a sensationalist plot (maybe because I can relate a bit too well to the illness of the husband!)

This is a lovely story that I have returned to many times. I like the characters and I especially love Gerry and Holly's relationship.

It's good it's just mostly a sad story.

Probably my favorite book ever. Such a great story - before passing away, the husband of the main character leaves her a series of notes instructing her to do certain things each month. Very uplifting. A "feel-good" book. I didn't want the book to end.

This book was recommended to me by my best friend who said that not a single book has made him cry like this one. I am way more emotional and fragile when it comes to love stories and normally start to cry at the smallest things.
However this book was just horrible. I thought about giving it two stars but then I realized that I almost liked nothing about it.
The writing was a complete disaster as well as the characters who all seemed so flat and weird. I could not get into the story since the letters from Gerry did not seem genuine at all. This is supposed to be a romance but the story as well as the writing does not convey this feeling at all.
I was getting kind of into this little thing between Daniel & Holly but the writing just kills it for me...

One word... DISASTER. This book was a complete and utter disaster!!!! There are so many flaws and plot holes in this book , I am baffled at how it got such great reviews. Either the author had no idea where the book was going or she was didn't actually read it.
