Tanner moves from Palo Alto to Utah when he is 15, because his mom has an amazing job opportunity.
This move might be great for his mother, for him, a bisexual boy, it's incredibly hard to live in the middle of LDS country.

Things get even more complicated when he starts to fall for his TA in a writing class... a male TA, who is not only heavily involved in the Mormon church, but is a true believer himself.

This book was... incredible...
Hard hitting and emotional, I read the first 100 pages before bed and this morning, I read the rest in one sitting. I just couldn't put it down.
Tanner's story made me laugh, cry and feel every emotion in between, but above all, it made my heart ache for all the people out in the world right now, who are afraid to be who they truly are.

This is a beautifully written, very important story and I loved it!

I loved this book.

This book quickly became my favorite read of 2018, and is absolutely one of my all-time favorites. Through the eyes of Tanner, the reader explores the intersection-or, perhaps collision-of religious and sexual identity. The conflicts felt by Sebastian and Tanner due to the constraints of the Mormon church are all too familiar to those in the LGBTQ community who have been raised in conservative/religious households. The authors have managed to create, delicately and devastatingly, real characters to whom so many can relate on the most emotional, spiritual, and human levels. You will fall in love with Tanner and Sebastian just as I did, and I am sure that their story will touch you regardless of your religion, sexuality, or anything else. With universal themes of identity, family, and self-acceptance, this book is an incredible and important read for everyone. I didn't want this story to end, and I hope that it doesn't have to-please let there be a sequel!

Uughhhh ohmygods I dont know what to think about this book. I mean to start somewhere, it was brilliant. But it made me so immesurably angry. I sometimes can‘t (or won’t) believe people go through this every day. Thinking they are not worthy. Thinking they are a mistake. Knowing their families and communities will never accept them the way they are.
I cried my fucking eyes out reading this. I hope books like these help spread awareness. A giant thank you to the authors. You guys are the best. Thank you for making people feel seen and understood. I highly recommend this book.

Shewwww. This book literally had me on a rollercoaster of emotions.

I literally wasn’t sure up until the very end of it was going to end happily. I was happy, sad, angry, worried and stressed while reading this. I was surprised I enjoyed it so much for it being YA..it’s hard for me to connect with YA characters anymore because I’m old

I really enjoyed this! Tanner, Sebastian, and Autumn are charming and fleshed out, and have believable feelings and issues. I’m not a spiritual person, but I appreciate that Sebastian’s faith was treated with respect and dignity, just as much as any questions of sexuality. It was funny and really cute, the pacing is great. The heartbreak feels palpable! In a good way!
