I enjoyed this one more than I usually do, and I think it was in part due to the audiobook.

It's great being back in Tortall.

First Pierce book that got higher score than 3.25. Getting to know more about Diane's magic and seeing interact with more animals and The People. I just wish that map was more descriptive so I could see where everything was in Tortall.

Still a fantastic book, just didn't like it as well as the first. 4.5 stars rounded to 4 for that reason. Still highly recommend this series!

Really enjoying this series!
adventurous lighthearted medium-paced

rereading this series is a delight for my inner child. this one is definitely my "least favorite" but I still love it. there's just a lot of running around in this one and a TON of new characters so it crosses some wires in my brain, and it's SLIGHTLY more boring bc it really only takes place in one location and there's less Numair and no Onua at all. the corruption and twists are spicy tho and the ending battle scene is VERY satisfying, and Daine does a whole bunch of character development in this one.

Another good one.

This feels just like visiting an old friend. I love seeing Daine's adventure and all of the friends she meets along the way. This is such a fun book.
