This series is cute, but it's not holding up as well as the Lioness Rampant series. :(

This was yet another re-read of a book I've always loved. 

What I really appreciate about this book is Daine begins to think about the repercussions of how her powers affect the world and the creatures around her. While this may have benefits it also has some pretty sizable moral and ethical considerations. 

I also appreciate finding out more about Daine first coming into her powers with the wolves and about her history shortly before the series begins.

This might have been a favorite series, if only I had read it as a kid. Daine’s animal friends are absolutely delightful, and it has a fun progression as she hangs out with them and learns new powers. Partially due to my current mood, the audiobook, and the reading level it was written for, it ended up feeling a bit shallow to me.
