Nash Hartley has always been Maddie's home. Her childhood best friend, her protector, her family. The one who held her through her nightmares and who wouldn't leave her side during the darkest time of her life.

The person she's been in love with for almost her whole life. So when she knew Nash wouldn’t give her anything more than friendship, she tried to move on. She moved out of town with her boyfriend, and slowly, things changed between Nash and her.

But her relationship turned out to be a terrible mistake and now, she's back to Cedar Ridge, running away from her abusive ex, and the only person she wants to see is Nash. And once she is back home, she takes this chance to start over and take control of her life.

When Nash realizes what Maddie went through, he promises he wouldn’t let anyone her hurt again. But now, her past is catching up with her, and this time, she might not be able to outrun what's coming her way. Because there are those who would stop at nothing to hurt not just her, but also Nash.

Review:
Maddie grew up in an abusive household. Nash and Maddie have very different family situations, but that has never mattered to them and they have always been inseparable. The Hartleys have always treated her as a part of their family..

It was heartbreaking to read what Maddie went through as a child and later as an adult. But I love how she stayed strong and took back control of her life. I love how Nash constantly reassures her that what happened to her wasn't her fault. And with time and with Nash and his family's help, she was able to let go a little bit of the shame and guilt she felt. I absolutely love loveee Nash. He's so protective of Maddie and she's the person he cares about the most. He would do anything for her, and he really did. These two were absolutely meant to be. Their banter, the way they knew each other so well, how they could be absolutely vulnerable with each other. And I love how funny Nash was.

Nash and Maddie have both been pining for each other for years, but have both held back from taking that leap due to their own reasons. But now, Nash is staying with Maddie to make sure she's okay, and they aren't sure if they can keep their feelings hidden for too long... or if they should be hidden after all.

I can put into words how much I love the Hartleys. They are truly one of the best families I've read about. They know each other so well and always stand up for their people no matter what. There was soo much banter between the siblings but at the same time, they were all together in facing every issue any family member was going through. They were so protective of their family and friends.

The drama involving Maddie's ex and the stuff with her father kept me on edge. I was nervous on her behalf. And just when you think this is it... BAM.. another plot twist.
I honestly love this series so much and can't wait to read about the rest of the Hartley siblings. Also, loveee how supportive the girls are of each other as well. That's the kind of girl gang you want to be a part of.

OMG THIS BOOK! I did not want to stop reading this book. I was hooked from the start. I always love a good friends-to-lovers romance, but a childhood friends-to-lovers romance SIGN ME UP! I loved Nash and Maddie so much. I loved how protective he was towards Maddie. I am officially obsessed with Nash Hartley. I love him! I loved the Who Did This trope in the book. The mystery/ suspense in this book had me on the edge of my seat. I did not expect what happened in the last bit of the book to happen. My jaw was on the floor. Overall, I loved this one and am excited to read the next book in the series.

3.5 star - I didn’t hate it, I actually liked it. But 4 star would be like I recommend to anyone who likes romance books and 3 star is I liked it but wouldn’t read it again.

It took me a while to read… it kind of dragged on and o was listening to the audio book. I’m not a huge friends to loves trope gal but I saw it on Tik Tok and it intrigued me. I think the plot was good and had a lot of different things going on to make it interesting. I just got bored so maybe that’s on me …
