The book grew on me. I don't watch Live so I don't know much about Kelly. I always enjoy listening to a book read by the author, and I give credit to anyone who puts themselves out there by sharing their story. As a mother I was chocked up at the end when Kelly writes about sending her last child to college.

I grew up watching Live! with my mom so I think Kelly will always feel like one of my mom's friends: a welcome, warm, and funny presence. I'll never understand the hate that clings to Kelly, especially in 2023. This collection was aptly named - long winded - but that's exactly what makes her such a relatable and cozy narrator. Just the other day, I sent a 16-minute voice memo to my friends because I am incapable of telling a cohesive, short, story. Listening to this book was like getting together with an old friend and chatting about marriage, parenting, dealing with trolls, aging, and celebrity crushes. This was absolutely delightful.

I’m giving this book a 3.5. I liked it, I enjoyed it.

I REALLY loved this book! Before picking it up, I was sort of familiar with Kelly, but I didn’t know a lot about her career or history, and was worried I would be disinterested. But I was SO invested in every one of her stories.

I definitely recommend it on audio to hear her tell her stories in her own voice. And Mark’s little interjections were hilarious!

This is not a memoir as it doesn’t go through her life auto-biographically. It’s an essay collection that covers seemingly random topics, but I thought she brought in some nice through lines to tie them all together.

I didn’t know a lot of the history about her time with Regis, and, if you’re looking for a tell-all about that, you won’t get it here. I was really sad to read through other reviews and see people give her low ratings because she didn’t either give him all the credit for her career (which seems completely unwarranted, and she was more than respectful in how she portrayed him in that essay) or drag him through the mud. Instead, this book is mostly stories about her family told in what I thought was a very authentic way.

"Live Wire" by Kelly Ripa is a collection of funny and relatable short stories that will have you laughing out loud. From tales of her mischievous children to her hilarious interactions with her husband and colleagues.

One of my favorite stories was when they caught Lola throwing a rooftop house party on their security cameras while they vacationed in Long Island after moving her to NYU only 12 hours prior.

I recommend "Live Wire" to anyone who enjoys a good laugh. It was both entertaining and engaging.

WOW! I really enjoyed these little long-winded-short stories.

To start off with - I do not really know Kelly Ripa. I did not go into reading this with an opinion of the author. And I feel like that could really skew the perspective of the reader. And to clarify, what I mean by "know" is that I know what she does for a living, but I am not her target audience - though for this book, yes, yes I am.

My sister in law actually gave it to me. I was complaining about our recent move out of NYC and into NJ and the short story regarding North Jersey and South Jersey had me cackling. I also learned about Central Jersey from someone whilst talking about this book.

Either way, I'm tremendously grateful my SIL sent me this book. It was fun, it was quick witted, it was engaging and entertaining... A 5, 6, 7, 8..

I've been sharing excerpts from this book with my friends who are going through similar experiences. For example, I sent a blurb to my best friend, a first-time mom, who was struggling with new mom anxiety. She was worried about her baby's breathing (just anxious, baby's fine!), so I shared Kelly's story about the newborn nurse - or lack thereof. My friend loved the humorous take on the MIL's "schedule" and asked me for more funny anecdotes.

I think it's a wonderful book and would recommend it to others. As a matter of fact, I'm lending out the very day I finished it.
