I had started and abandoned the original novel of this story, but figured I might enjoy it more with pictures. Turns out, I was wrong. The story seemed heavy-handed. I got a little farther in the graphic novel than I did in the written novel, but not much farther.

Having read the original book, I found this really good! I loved the illustrations and the story was just as good as I remember.
The writing seemed a little chessy at points, which I didn't feel when reading the novel. Also lots of close ups of hand holding. Cassnadra's jean's work always looks like a sketch to me, which is okay in her The Shadowhunter Chronicles art but I didn't really like in this. Other than that it was an okay graphic novel.
I was surprised with this one! I loved the graphic novel version of this book much better than the original, though I didn't think that that was possible! The artwork is amazing and brings even more depth to this already engaging story-line. Wonderful!
I would generally recommend this for high school and up, given the themes; although some advanced 8th-grade readers could reasonably get into this!

Really glad I picked this up. I enjoyed the original novel and sequel when I read them but this was a totally different experience. I loved the artwork, it was a neat style that gelled well with the story. This gave me an all new appreciation for the novel. I picked up on different aspects of the story from going through both the full novelization and graphic novel. This is one of the few graphic novels I've read but by having such a pleasant time going
through it, probably won't be the last. And while this served as an okay holdover for Library of Souls, at the same time I think it's made me more impatient for the release of book 3.

Great book, I can't wait to read the next graphic novel and the actual book series.
