As good yet different. A good way to get back to the series and get ready to read the second book.
I'm not sure I would have enjoyed it as much as I did if I hadn't read the book first.Reading this without any ideas of the story and universe might not be as enjoyable.

Haven't read the book so came into this cold. Enjoyed the story and really liked the art style. "Current time" done in black and white, "past" done in variations of color. I'm usually irritated by time travel but this version didn't bother me. Still a lot more story to tell but this felt like a good amount of story for one volume.

I really enjoyed this graphic novel - read it in one sitting. I read the book about a year or two ago and loved that one as well. The illustrations have a manga feel to it and are actually super cute. I felt it was cool how they made the real world black and white, but everything in the loop was colourful. I'm planning on reading Hollow City next month, so this was also a great way to refresh my memory! :D

Absolutely stunning art, it brought the story to life even more then Ransom's pictures and words did.
The execution of the art was good. I liked Cassandra Jean's use of color and integration of the old-timey photos. The story itself left me flat. This may be because of the distilled nature of the graphic form. It moved too quickly and I didn't get any sense of dimension for any of the characters.
I haven't read the novel. I suspect it's better compliment to the book than a stand alone treatment.

I liked it. I think I'm gonna give the actual novel a shot again soon.
Actual rating 3.5 stars. I thought that the art style was confusing at times. The plot was really good . It gave me a good memory of what happen in the book, Miss Peregrine Home for Peculiar Children. I can't wait to read the sequel Hollow City
