Super creepy book. Really glad I didn't read the more text version. Then it really might have given me nightmares. Ugh. Interesting story, but not my cup of tea.
Read it because of my library book club. Gave it a chance. Not reading further.

It's great.

as good as the first time i read it

Ever since he was a little boy Jacob’s grandfather has been telling him stories about the peculiar children from his childhood. Now that he is older and his grandfather has passed he wonder how much truth were in those stories.

This series has been getting so much hype. I have heard nothing but good things about it, so of course I was very apprehensive to start it. I have been burnt too many times by booktube.

But as I was browsing through Barnes and Noble one day I came across the graphic novel. I read half of it as I continued to walk around the store, and I bought it when I found out the sequel to the graphic novel was coming out soon.

This was the perfect introduction to the series. The illustrations were beautiful, the characters were intriguing and I really enjoyed the story.

This is a reality short graphic novel, it seems like it just skims the surface of the peculiar world. There were parts that felt extremely rushed, I wished they would have elaborated more in other parts.

But that was ok for me. I am now extremely invested in this series. I want to go ahead and pick up the novels.

I give this graphic novel a B-.

I finished this book at work today!(:

I read this to fulfil the graphic novel requirement in 2015's Nerdfighter reading challenge.

Now don't get me wrong, I enjoyed this book. My rating is far closer to four stars than 3. However, I didn't enjoy it that much. I don't know if it's the format, it was the first graphic novel I've read, or because I haven't finished reading the written novel of this book yet, but I didn't enjoy it as much as I thought I would. I didn't really connect to the characters, and I was fonder of the art style when it was in colour.
I don't know. Maybe I'll revisit this graphic novel when I've finished reading its written counterpart.

I actually liked this one much better than the original novel itself.

Just a quick update prior to reading the rest of the trilogy.

I have to admit, I didn't like this graphic novel at first. I had really high hopes for it since this is one of my favorite book series. I thought the artwork looked rushed and sketchy (literally). However, after a few pages, I started to like the simple style. Once Jacob entered the loop, I was officially in love with it!

However, I would definitely recommend that a person read the actual book before the graphic novel because (obviously) quite a bit is left out and you don't really get to know all of the characters.

I cannot wait to get my hands on the second graphic novel!
