Meet Cute Diary

I'm not saying this book is bad, I just didn't like it. Mainly because the main character is unlikeable and seems like a bit of a narcissist. Flawed characters are great, because they give you something to relate to, but Noah just comes off as negative and entitled. He seems to constantly look down on people, not care for the feelings of others, and just seems rude and judgemental.

I also thought some parts of the book were unrealistic. Usually I don't have a problem with this, especially when reading fiction, but in this case it felt like a bit too much. I think that if you're into cheesy romantic stories straight out of a teenagers fantasy, this book would be perfect. I actually think I would've liked it better when I was 15, too. Reading it now though, I personally wasn't a fan.

However, one pro I have for this book is that it's an easy and quick read. Also, I liked Devin!

awwwwwwwwww I WANT

...well.

this book was a f*cking rollercoaster. i fell in love with it until it took a dramtic plunge to hell around the 30% mark, after which it was...nigh excruciating to muddle through the next 40%. until...it pulled the most dramatically impressive damn redemption arc since donald 'ebenezer scrooge' duck in the disney adaptation of a christmas carol (which will always trump the original, dni if you disagree)

i don't know how else to put it without spoiling anything, but...this book is worth all your time and patience. it becomes a downright chore to pull through around the middle, but it is so, so worth it. im incredibly glad it went the direction it did and id 100% recommend you to pull through the dreary bits

the toxic relationship rep and nuanced exploration of gender was fantastic, i adored noah and becca and the gorgeous representation of queer tumblr culture, the concept of the diary was so intriguing but it's subversion was pulled off brilliantly and m0st of all, devin has my whole heart <3

the what-if-it's-us-esque quest at the end caught me off guard but definitely made me smile and the sheer unadulterated trans joy in this book is exhilarating. a truly spectacular debut:D

i love myself some ace rep. however, im so confused as to why they chose to put the "false loveiterest" on the cover and why we spent so much time with that wrong loveinterest and the MC was kinda annoying??
