I liked parts of this book more than the two previous ones, but it is a good sequel.
I love that we get to know more about Gabriel in this one, and he did not disappoint! I hope we see more of him in the next one.
Lor is definitely growing on me, to the point where I might actually quite like her now and I’m definitely getting attached and emotionally invested in what happens to her.
Still love Nadir and I really want to see more of Tristan and Willow and Amya. They’re all good characters. In this book we get to see a little bit more of them and get to know them better.
I would also like to know more about Tyr and everything that happened there.
I quite liked that in this book they travel to different kingdoms, though I wish the glimpses had been longer and more in depth. It made me wonder about the other Realms around, the ones less mentioned.
In essences, this book, I feel, is about Lor really getting to know herself. For the first time in her life, since she was a young child, she gets a moment to breathe (kind of, but at least the danger is not as close as in the previous books). For the first time she has a plan, an achievable goal, despite how difficult that may be. She has a chance to stop and concentrate on herself, on what she’s feeling, on who she is and what she wants, without having to be on constant alert because she’s in life-threatening danger.
But with time to breathe, she also finally stops her constantly being in danger for long enough to start thinking and dealing with everything she’s been through and the lingering trauma those things left behind. In this book, she works on herself and gets a chance to try and move on, to forge her own path and take control of her own life. And, as she slowly starts to get to know herself, she realises what she wants and that she’s been stopping herself from getting because of her insecurities.
It’s a rather introspective book, interspersed with all of the action and the mystery.
Really curious to know how it goes from here! :)

My ideal middle of a series romantasy book - we’re going on adventures, meeting new people and learning about new places, the romance is at an all time high, there is political intrigue and INFORMATION, more questions than answers but there are answers!! Also, the communication between not just couples but also friends / family is actually well done?? This is one of only a few fantasy / romantasy books where I haven’t wanted to throw my kindle and the wall and yell “just talk to each other”! I’m actually shocked at the respect, understanding, and communication and it really is making this series enjoyable. The fact that Nadir let slip Lor is his mate and she was like “you knew??” and he goes “you also knew??” but they DIDN’T FIGHT?! I was genuinely shocked. Thank you Nisha!!!!!
I really enjoyed this ride and so far it was my favorite of the series, but also…
don’t talk to me about the ending.
If you are reading this book you NEED to have the next available immediately. You’re welcome for that warning.
But still, five stars, loved it, even with the emotional devastation.
