This book was thrilling and nerve-wracking whatnot. Breaking the rule is a kinda habit for Rose. But this book would shock you to the core. Rose was sent to prison for the murder of the monarch of the Moroi Kingdom. If you want to know whether would she survive the trial, you have to read this book.
I love this series but I have this distaste for the Rose character. She is pretentious, selfish, and slutty. But this book would make you hate her even more.

I can't believe this is over. I'm weirdly grateful to have seen Rose, Lissa, Christian and everyone else grow up through the series. They will be missed
It was okay. Nothing great. Ending was very neat. Not my favourite of the series but then it's always hard to end a series in a way that will please everyone. Rose's action began to irritate me as the book progressed. She seems to take very little consideration towards other people's feelings. Her methods are almost Machiavellian. She's all about the end result which is frustrating. However, a perfect character would also have been frustrating. Can't have everything.
I would have liked a few more answers to some questions in this final book of the series, but overall it waas pretty much equal to the rest of the books.

I love the ending it does all seem that everything tied up in a cute little bow. Which doesn’t match the rest of the series.
Let it be known that I've hunted bookstores for this book. At first, I couldn't seem to feel the sadness of the ending of one of my most favourite series, but when it got to the final page, it just struck me:
It feels so overwhelming. I hate the ending of a series. It gives you this sad, churning feeling that nothing will be the same again, after those years, months, or however long it felt- of agonising waiting. A few books ago, I was in complete heartache of Dimitri's change to a Strigoi. The third book shattered my heart to pieces and it was utterly amazing- I've never felt pain and sadness in such a way before from books. As if I had been the one who had lost someone important. I came to realise the power of words. I've had to endure waiting after the third book. It nearly killed me, which I'm sure, many of you can relate to.
That does not, of course, dismiss the brilliance of the first two books. I love this author. I love this series. The first book captured me, the second book made me completely obsessed, the third book made me realise why I loved the series so much, and the later books pretty much captured the essence of the series. But I digress.
The final book, Last Sacrifice was more than I could've asked for (except, obviously, for having a longer story). I didn't want to leave Rose yet.
I felt the characters have grown so much, particularly Lissa. The loss of the bond felt unnatural even to me, but I knew, this was a step for Lissa to grow stronger. Although much of the book had been seen through Lissa's eyes, I felt it was the perfect way to give insight to Lissa's character. Rose admitted that she underestimated Lissa, and it's true, through Lissa's eyes and Rose's view, she exudes an inner beauty and strength that makes her the rightful queen. Rose is, well, still Rose. Still badass. But even more so, because her and Dimitri make a great team.
Dimitri and Rose could not be more epic than they already are as a couple, and mind you, they're already freaking EPIC enough, in capital letters. :)
The heartache, the frustration in waiting was worth every page. Heck, every word- it all screams why they are one of my most favourite couples ever. And it shows, through every scene they are together. No one, in my opinion, could be more perfect enough for each other.
I never thought I'd say this, since I'm totally on Dimitri's side, but I'm glad that Adrian was... the way he was. He wasn't demonised, as some authors tend to do to make their main lead guy the most desirable. I felt sorry for him, I wanted someone to hug him, because he loved Rose, gone through many things for her to keep her happy. But still, Rose and Dimitri... To me, they're perfect together. There was never really competition from the start. That, though, makes it worse.
I have to admit I didn't see the actual murderer coming, I thought it'd been Daniella. I should've known better to not be fooled by that. With the turn of events, it all spiraled towards one ending, and it was done so beautifully, tying up all the strings together.
That's not to say the book didn't have any flaws. I felt Rose's coming back to life from her gunshot a bit too good to be true, but given how I want to see Rose happy, I guess I canceled it out. I wanted a happily-ever-after, and after this book- no, after all the shit Rose went through, I think she deserves that happiness. Too much lapsing into Lissa's mind occurred, but some were still interesting and essential to Rose's own train of thought. Also, you might've thought Rose would learn about not being with someone you don't love love (if there's a difference) after what happened with Mason. Still, forgivable flaws. To me at least.
Thank you, thank you Ms. Mead for this series. I've come to appreciate snarky, kick-ass protagonists. I've come to love Rose as a character: Selfish at times, flawed, a risk-taker, yet a growth- a personal growth, both physical and emotional. Everything Rose experienced was a marvelous, awe-inspiring journey from start to finish. I don't feel this review is enough to even sum up the awesomeness of this series.
I feel like crying even when I should be past that. I love this series. And now it's over for Rose's POV. I wonder what Richelle has in store for us for the next VA spin-off series. But if there's one thing I have to say, it's that if I come to re-read this series (and I definitely will) I can honestly say that all the sadness, pain, joy and satisfaction on reading this series would still be there. That is, in itself, an incredible feat for an author. Again, thank you Ms. Mead for such a wonderful, incredible journey of Rose that you have shared with us.

I think Richelle Mead has good ideas. But her execution is clumsy.
Her story composition is simplistic and linear, and her depiction of emotions is juvenile. Many of the emotionally charged scenes are so awkward they actually make me embarrassed.
That being said I read the whole book and did find some enjoyment. Everything ended almost exactly how I expected. No real surprises there.
