I don't want it to be over:(

This was awesome. I hope in the following spin off series that we learn more about the people that didn't have their stories completed.

Poor Adrian. :(

I was asked to review this last instalment of Richelle Mead's Vampire Academy series which meant I needed to read all the previous titles also so that I knew what was going on. Maybe this intensive teenage vampire fiction reading made me a little less than receptive once Last Sacrifice rolled around, maybe it was trying to plough through it despite having some major impediments to reading (I am looking at you, Evelina) or maybe it was just because it was not very good but whatever the reason, I can't say I particularly enjoyed Last Sacrifice.

For each of the books, I would start of being irritated by the prose which I realise is written for teenagers but also sounds like it has been written by a teenager too. I would remember how arrogant the protagonist Rose could be (although I will take that over the insipid, a-little-too-self-depricating-such-that-I-don't-believe-it Bella from Meyers's Twilight Saga). For the other books in the series though, despite my better judgement, I would find myself getting involved in the story enough that I could put these peeves to one side. Last Sacrifice unfortunately seemed to have a large portion of the book which had Rose sitting around a lot. Her geographical separation from her best friend Lissa means that she has to use her bond - a supernatural link that allows her to see and hear what Lissa says, does and thinks - for protracted periods, ostensibly in order that we as readers can see what is happening back at Court while Rose is away.

The overuse of this plot contrivance dilutes the drama and emotion and as such, I found myself not really caring about the relationships which were in the balance i.e. the Rose / Dimitri / Adrian triangle and the frankly dull and predictable Lissa and Christian pairing.

Now I do need to be a little fair and acknowledge that I am not the target demographic for this series and despite all its flaws, I still found Mead's writing far superior to Meyers's. I think I will stick to Shiver author Maggie Stiefvater for my supernatural teen fiction since the quality is far superior and Gail Carriger for my grown-up vampire / werewolf action. I will be reading Linger and Changeless respectively just as soon as I have de-vampired a bit.

The best book in the VA series. Well but that's exactly how I felt after reading every book but yeah. I can't believe so much has happened in this book. This book that is not too big compared to the previous in this series. And I truly wish the pages just went on. I can't believe I've finished this series. I can't believe VA is over :( it makes me sad. So sad tbh. I've completed all the 6 books in little over a month. And this whole while, I almost felt Rose was someone in my head. Always with me. Or maybe I was with her. And I can't bear the fact that there is nothing more for me to look forward to :( so many things happened in this book and so much has been unravelled(if not all) here. Towards the end, I truly did think we were not going to know Tatiana's murderer in this series at all. I thought I'd have to read bloodlines to know that. But of course, Richelle Mead did that all, like some kind of magic that she has been talking so much about in her book. Her words are magic. I feel like I'm under compulsion when I read these books :) and I'll miss them dearly. But one thing that's still a mystery to me. If Tasha is the murderer, one who had always wanted moroi to learn to fight, why would she want to use compulsion on dhampirs in order to serve? If she opposed the age decree, she wouldn't want to compel them into serving as guardians. Also why would Tatiana not punish her if she was a threat? So Daniella wanted the dragomirs out of the scene but why did Tasha want to compel guardians? What about the letter Lissa got from ambrose. I don't get if I missed something in my excitement to read or of more was to be unravelled in bloodlines. This being the last book, I thought there would be some kind of a closure but well looks like I'll have to start reading bloodlines soon. And Adrian! Poor poor Adrian :'( I have to admit, after blood promise when I saw the strigoi side of Dimitri and the lovely helpless side of Adrian, somewhere I had fallen in love with him more. Or i don't know if its just pity for him :( I like Dimitri and rose together. That had always been my ship. Bit somehow I can't see them the same way as before he turned strigoi. I really don't get that connection. And if the tables were reversed and if Dimitri was the one to walk away, I feel he'd be able to handle it strong, turning to serve as a guardian. But that's not the case with Adrian. He's weak :( I just want him to be happy, get over this heartbreak, betrayal and move on. I kind of don't like the fact that rose and Lisa's bond broke. I feel lost just like rose would :( very well, this was a wonderful journey with Rose. She'll always be my favourite female character <3 :')

After 2 weeks this series became one of the best. Now I know why everyone scream DIMITRI!

Algunas cosas no me gustaron. Lo que sucedió con Adrian, las conversaciones con él, y cómo terminó todo... Uff ... Me molestó bastante.

This was an okay finish to an enjoyable series.  However, the last 100 pages seemed rushed and there were some open endings.
