I am so glad that I was more than satisfied with the ending of this series.
The way this series started, and the way it ended up is just so different and amazing! Personally, I cannot believe I ever doubted that this series could reach the same heights it had with the third book, and although I took my sweet time finishing this, I enjoyed it nonetheless!
Rose Hathaway, is hands down, one of my most favorite female characters in YA. She has grown on me, and I love Rose’s determination and fierce loyalty. I am so happy that Rose didn’t change or anything toward the end of the series, instead she’s gotten better when even other character that I love haven’t!
The pacing of this story felt exactly like the last. It moved fast and plot points and characterization was done extremely well (in my fangirling opinion of course—not like I’m being biased or anything).
I haven’t mentioned in an previous reviews, but I would like to point out that I think the side characters have really grown, even though we see some of this through Rose’s visions sometimes as she’s watching Lissa, and I’m glad that they did show that. I do admit, I thought it was annoying in Blood Promise but after that, I thought that they showed really good insight, especially through Lissa’s head, and I am glad we did get to see that.
Unfortunately, a lot of the things I’m talking about will be spoilers.
The thing about Eric Dragomir eventually cheating on his wife, and therefore with Emily Mastrano, Jill was born. Although I understand why Lissa might have needed a sister to secure her place on the throne, it seemed really out of character from the things we had heard about Lissa’s parents. I’m not sure, but when Emily herself described that she and Eric had a good relationship, I was more relieved because it proved that he wasn’t all bad . . . kind of. Poor Jill, though!
Lissa becoming Queen. I had a feeling Lissa would secure a tight position in the Moroi court due to Tatiana turning out to agree with some of the changes Lissa and Rose both had in mind!I didn’t expect for her to actually run for Queen! I am so glad that she’s Queen, I can’t imagine Lissa as anything else now that I think about it!
Also, I’m not sure how I feel about the bond with Rose and Lissa breaking. I think that if I ever have to choose of them having the bond and not having the bond, I would say that they should still have it because it’s always been there. Like, throughout the entire series, we always feel Rose’s connection to Lissa. And at the end (when Lissa’s coronation happened) it was weird having Rose to second guess Lissa’s emotions. I’m still not sure how I feel about it, but there are more pros to that happening!
Finally, the most important topic. Adrian. I was pretty disappointed in Rose for being as careless as she was with Adrian. I felt like she could’ve handled the situation MUCH MUCH better. I hated the way things broke off with him! After seeing his pain, it was pretty obvious that Rose wasn’t really that caring towards his emotions and depth in this relationship. At times it felt like all she did was use him.
I don’t know if we’ll ever see Adrian again—wait, never mind, I remember someone mentioning that we do. I hope Adrian finds someone that loves him for him, and while I’m upset at Rose for that, she did point out some things about his strength that I agree with. So, ALL THE BEST ADRIAN AND YOU BETTER SHOW YOUR BUTT IN BLOODLINES.
Overall, Last Sacrifice was an amazing conclusion that fairly wrapped up all plots, and subplots. I am happy with the way that things turned out in the end! I am so glad that I went through with this amazing series, and I can already feel myself missing the characters! :D

“What the hell?" I asked. Is this daring escape being sponsored by Honda?”

I can’t believe that Tasha Ozera was the one that ended up killing Tatiana! They never made a big deal out of the fact that she had ever been jealous of Dimitri and Rose! So, it seemed kind of low even for her to first commit murder and then blame it on her crush’s girlfriend . . .The thing about Eric Dragomir eventually cheating on his wife, and therefore with Emily Mastrano, Jill was born. I loved Loved LOVED this book!!! I literally could not put it down... well i read it as an e-book as i guess i just couldn't turn off my laptop. NEVER THE LESS, I am now fully content with this series. In the past I’ve gotten hooked on a series only to be left in shattering disappointment. I hate the fairy tale ending where suddenly life as stopped becoming a tornado and is now all rainbows and butterflies. I do also hate when everything is left to shit... this ending however was INCREDABLE! I was left feeling happy but the scars of what had taken place were still there, we understood that there was still a lot more struggle left and that though the greater good came about; there was still devastation in its wake. I love how it ended with Rose and Demetri, yes she's now a cheater and Demetri was THAT GUY that stole another's girl but let’s be serious she never belonged to Adrian anyways. Also, I love the little Lissa as queen twist. It's so perfect. She's always painted as this weak little girl but we really see her strength in this last book. Finally, i have this uncanny ability to predict the killer before I’m half-way through a novel so it was nice to FINALLY be taken by surprise. I had to clue to suspect Tanya... I mean the Daniella thing was kinda obvious but wow Tanya being the real murderer of the queen was just brilliant!
Overall, 5 Starts. If I could give it 6... i would!
Predictions: I see another book in the making, Adrian was just way to angry to let this all go. He'll go after Rose, Lissa, and Demetri in the future. I also predict that he'll be a MUCH stronger spirit user than ever before. Maybe stronger than Lissa.
No worries fellow V.A. Lover, i have a strong feeling we will see another epic showdown

Liked the story, didn't like the relationship between Rose and Dimitri. Felt forced, especially considering it seemed that she had moved on in the last book. Seemed like Rose was moving backward instead of forward, clinging on to a teenage dream rather than reality.
This was way too long and honestly got worse the longer I read it. It was OK, but I don’t think I’d ever think about it again. I’m still mad at her and Adrian, not because I thought they’d end up together, but because of how she treated him. How she treated everyone honestly. Mostly I just hate rose, but she you can’t make this shit up. She’s awful. Not only was she awful to Adrian, she was shit to nearly every single person she encounters in this book at some point (and there’s a lot of characters). I feel like the reader is just mean to be ‘wow badass Hathaway always putting ‘others’ before herself, but at the end of the day she puts Lissa ahead of others and when .
Jill, Adrian, Sydney, Eddie all deserves better by the end of this, and others too.
Also, for such a highly known book, and that it’s been out for so long, this has WAY too many editing errors in it? Why hasn’t it been revised in the amount of years it’s been? That’s messed up, especially with the price. It’s not hard to fix that shit.
Spoiler
cheats on Adrian, pretty much right after goes into a Shadow Dream and kisses him, acknowledges she’s shit for cheating but can’t tell him there because it’s like a break up text (NOW she has morals) and she needs to USE him and then he finds out she’s cheated and when they talk about it and he’s heartbroken saying he loved her and she accuses him of being a VICTIM, and that that is why they would have never worked out.Spoiler
the bond breaks, she doesn’t even fucking know her best friend, it’s like their aliens to each other because she can’t hijack her thoughts and feelings anymoreJill, Adrian, Sydney, Eddie all deserves better by the end of this, and others too.

It was OK. I feel like there were a lot of missed opportunities for character development, deepening the plot, and representation. However, there is a great deal of potential. I would have liked a “why choose” scenario and Adrian was treated badly (tho idk why he loved Rose so much).
I really liked how this part of the series ended. I love how the author makes things, without giving too much away, what I mean is, nothing always happens as you would think.
First finished book of 2025 and it's the amazing finale of this series. What a ride. What a thrill. I yelled a lot and got very emotional. On to Bloodlines next!
Oh my gosh. Oh. My. Gosh. Adrian... my feels: asdfghjkl. Really, Rose? Really?
Dimintri is seriously amazing. He really is. He respected Adrian even though he 'stole his girl' and, naturally, hes Dimintri.
~SPOILER ALERT~
I don't know how I feel about Rose and Lissa's bond breaking. It might make them better friends because now they can talk more to each other instead of relying on the bond. But, Lissa's life might be in danger because of using to much spirit and her guardians won't know when she's in trouble.
Jill. Poor Jill. I think that she knows what needs to happen, even though she doesn't like it. She needs guardians, though!!!
Are Christian and Lissa gonna make 'little Dragomirs'?
