I finished this in like 24 hours and it was by no means a small book, so definitely enjoyable. Shout out to my love Atticus Pünd, I have to say, I think his story was more compelling than the situation Susan was trying to unravel.
I just think towards the end what threw me off was how she somehow knew what happened in incredible detail without having explained how she acquired that bit of knowledge. I appreciate this is common of "whodunnits" but usually it's the sleuth known for possessing some 6th sense for crimes, she often reiterates that she's not actually a detective and feels out of her depth so...
[[spoiler]] like the safety pin and the dog? come on now. also, another thing that bugged me was when the murderer writes a note explaining their reasoning, idk, it felt a bit ott, hammy even?? [[end spoiler]] maybe I'm being picky but as a whole, a great read and i hope there's another installment (or even another Atticus Pünd story).

I had the same reaction as I did to Magpie, I enjoyed Conway’s book more than Horowitz’s. I think much of that is due to my inability to like or connect with Susan as a main character, let alone the narrative driver. I love Pund, but perhaps because he is so already familiar from Poirot. I guess I enjoy Horowitz cos playing as Agatha Christie.

Even though the writing was just as sharp as in "Magpie Murders", I was drowning in characters, timelines, and tangled subplots. The “book within a book” structure only made things worse. No matter how many notes or charts I made, I was thoroughly confused the entire time.
The only other book I’ve read with so many characters was "The Count of Monte Cristo" — and that’s one of my absolute favorites. The difference? That one was worth the effort. Moonflower Murders just felt like a chore, and honestly, I wish I hadn’t bothered.
I'll give the next in the series a try but I won't hold on so long if this happens again.
