I'm not a fan of the insta love trope, but then they are seperate for 7 years because of a misunderstanding. And when they meet again the spark is still there. But Robert is meaner, trying to get revenge but ending falling for her even harder. She is wiser after those years working as a governess. The sexual tension is up the charts. I highlighted so many great lines when they endlessly fight with words. The book went to directions I didn't expected from an usual Quinn's book. I enjoyed how the hero kept fighting to win the heroine's love back and how she made him understand how much she value her independence.
that was so sweet! I really liked their relationship.
And I still sherish the moment in the boutique! what a laugh!

I enjoyed this book, and quite liked Robert's sense of humor and goofiness. But I didn't like how pushy and high-handed he was with Victoria, and never felt like she was ever given a good reason to believe he wouldn't continue to act like that.
Also, the pacing at the end was weird - it couldn't seem to end, and had several disjointed, quick scenes, before finally getting to the last episode and ending. It just felt off.

Not sure why I read this book after Splendid, when it’s the same things that irritates me. Communicate? Have a conversation when there’s a misunderstanding? The DRAMA was not cute or witty. Still kinda liked it thooo
⭐️⭐️
I'm a bit skeptical about love at first sight but the idea of this was cute. Not a fan of the miscommunication trope and the major conflict would've been avoided with a simple conversation which Robert was trying to do but Victoria wouldn’t have it. Victoria was kind of an ass and I really didn't like her. Not my favourite Quinn but fed my historical romance craving.

This has not aged well. We now talk about the importance of consent all the time, so I don't find it super romantic to kidnap somebody because you're in love with them. Not cool.
