This book made me not want children! I am sitting in ambivalence with the ending. I enjoyed the way this book incorporated real, cited events as anecdotal details, something I've not seen before in the speculative fiction I've read.

Some very effective moments throughout, and Phillips' smart satiric touches mostly work because they're built on a foundation of grim tech-capitalism inevitability. But this would have been more piercing as a short story.

Called the ending from a mile away but found this deeply readable and interesting. Very odd experience to read in the woods disconnected from my phone.
