This was the last book I read for my class on loss and recovery. Unfortunately, it was not very impactful to me. It was rooted in philosophy, so I found myself getting lost in the points he was trying to make. I think this could be comforting for some people, it was just hard for me to get into.

I don’t think philosophy is my thing. Many of the ideas in this book didn’t resonate with me. I prefer to examine the challenges that face me in life through a more practical lens than philosophical one.

With that said, there were some interesting ideas. Such as, it’s not the meaning of life that matters but how does one live a meaningful life. Also, we need to acknowledge our life and experiences. Don’t hide from them. These are ideas I could get behind.

Check it out if you enjoy philosophical musings on life! It just wasn’t for me.

I'll definitely return to this! The concepts on failure, loneliness, grief and hope especially have been helping me to think through some aspects of my life from an angle I hadn't so far!

I really liked this book, very thought-provoking and inspiring to see how analytic philosophy can play a role in how we understand our own lives. Only criticism is that the philosophy was skated over pretty quickly in many cases - kind of dabbled in a number of different areas, whereas I think it could have had more depth. Nonetheless, he has good citations, so I’ll be able to find papers on relevant topics.

This was good. But i wish I read it in ebook instead of audio so I could think. I don't think any of the ideas are radical, but it's a good reminder and well organized

Most of all I really liked the discussion on chronic pain
