I remember reading this book in middle school, and I really enjoyed it. I was really into Meg Cabot at the time, I read almost all of her YA books (with the exception of the Princess Diaries, I couldn't get into them), and I think out of all of them, this was probably my favorite. I liked it because it was about witches, and I have always loved witches! I had really hoped there would be a sequel, I even had a dream of going into Barnes and Noble and finding the sequel. Still sad that there isn't one, but if there ever was one, I think I would definitely pick it up and read it!

Sometimes you just need a simple, cute, slightly juvenile read. Throw in some possible magic, and I am in.

This story had me smiling the whole way through. While it was predictable, I still loved it.

There were times I has annoyed at how clueless and oblivious Jinx (I actually thought this nickname was fun) was I still couldn't help but enjoy this short little story.

3.5 stars. This book's great characters were marred by some seriously repetitive phrasing problems.

This author usually has down-to-earth, easy to relate to plots, great characters, and good dialogue, but with HORRIBLY repetitive internal dialogue and emotional descriptions from characters (in this book, the knot in Jinx's stomach that was repeated on nearly every page). Like most of her books, I found this a fun and enjoyable read, but the writing holds it back from making four or five stars.

It's been a long time since I've read this book but I wanted to reread it since I remember really liking it. It was okay. Not as good as I remember though. Plus it had instalove :/

I could see that Zach has the hots for Jean from a mile ago, but obviously, being a heroine, and that too of Meg Cabot's, she couldn't.

How cute!

More like irritating, like that itch you get on your cheek every time you put in a face mask.

But it was funny regardless, so whatever.

A book that combines the witchcraft and friendship of the Graces by Laure Eve with the same oddly specific romance tropes as How to Be Popular (not realising her best guy friend is totally in love with her, low-key stalking the love interest, having the boyfriend be the only observer surrounded by sheeple, and having the plucky protag be convinced that her love interest is in love with the European 20 year old working a low wage job at a location they frequent).

I read this book years ago, but remembered nothing about it, so I decided it was time for me to reread it.

I enjoyed the story for the most part, though the conflict did seem to be resolved a little too easily, and I liked Jean well enough, though she was so clueless about Zach’s feelings for her. Zach was cute enough, and made a few jokes, but he wasn’t as funny as some of Cabot’s other male characters.

A fast and overall enjoyable read.

Cure sorry, I'll pass it to me 13 year old, reads like a G version of The Craft

The book was amazing. I had my doubts about the whole born with bad luck thing and her extremely bitchy cousin, but overall it was really good. Meg Cabot shows a old perspective on witches instead of the modern age one.

Such an awesome book, sweet, such great characters, I wouldn't mind a sequel, and see more of Jean and Zach, and this world, because it's just fantastic!!!
