A fun, hilarious, and thoughtful romp along with the dog protagonist Johannes (aka the Eyes), a wild dog who lives in a giant urban park. He keeps watch over all the human and animal comings and goings in the park, but changes are happening. The audiobook was exceedingly delightful--Ethan Hawke somehow made every line come more fully alive from the mind of Johannes. An ultimately hopeful and funny book about friendship and managing life's many changes.
beautiful middle grade book!! I am rarely a fan of animal books but this one was unexpected and sweet, and for an added bonus the audiobook is narrated by Ethan Hawke

My dad put this book on audiobook on the drive to the airport, as I was headed to the UK for grad school. After finally finishing it, I’m truly touched by the lessons of adventure the book holds and touched by his choice. As a bison fan and Eggers fan, truly a wonderful book.
Ugh this had me tearing me up……… can’t wait to read with the whole class!!!!
I have no words that could possibly convey my feelings while reading this beautiful book….
Couldn't follow in audio format, need to read
Really fun story. The audiobook is read by Ethan Hawke, and the way he brings the dog to life is adorable. I love the way the dog is so confident and self assured and has the sense of time of a 4 year old. “I slept for 1,000 years”. [Not an actual quote, because it’s hard to look up quotes in an audio book, but the idea is there. ] The dog talks about running faster than the speed of light and turning the globe with his strides, and his mantra his: “God is the sun, the clouds are messengers, and rain is rain”. He has friends, of course (all animals). And big purpose. And challenges. All very charming.
I love this book!!! What a great story with great character and lots of humor sprinkled. There have been a lot of heavy books written for children so this one was purely delightful.
A great read for kids and adults. Creative story about friendship, teamwork and courage. So much love for this one.
