I gotta say, don't do mafia/crime romances often, mostly because the men tend to be exceedingly cruel with little to no aftercare. I loved that Declan had a little more mercy and actually talked to Braelynn about triggers (late in the game but hey) The spice had me fanning myself a few times!
The plot left me wanting more. It's short, about 280 pages, so I wasn't expecting a lot of narrative, but I do wish it had a couple more chapters for a bit of background. It's part of a bigger universe, but this is the first book I picked up so I'm not sure what the background is like for the other books.

It's dark, forbidden, and addictive. Declan is dominant, mysterious, and oh-so-passionate. The chemistry between Declan and Braelynn is off the charts! Braelynn is a strong woman who's been through a lot, and I loved how Willow portrayed her character. The book is action-packed, with plenty of steamy scenes to entertain you. But be prepared for a major cliffhanger that will have you begging for the next book! I couldn't put it down, and I'm dying to know what happens next. Willow Winters knows how to deliver a captivating story that keeps you hooked from beginning to end. Highly recommended for fans of dark romance and emotional rollercoasters!

Or is she really falling for the big bad wolf? I can't tell yet but so far the story has me in a vice grip and I need answers I can't wait to dive into the second book.
