This was a good addition to the series. I wasn’t sure how I’d feel about it but I like that the action is still staying at the forefront of the narrative. I still don’t like the way Misa is treated in this series, though.

Se va enredando todo cada vez más e introduciendo nuevos personajes, pero me encanta

Brilliant ending to this volume. Unexpected interference of a new Shinigami completely throws off Light.

A reset volume, the footing is laid for the next few volumes. Light has two new brilliant adversaries to contend with, though I doubt either will have the impact L did. There is good action here, but there are better things to come.

So, I like the fact that Light has two new enemies to work against, it adds to the twisting and turning of the series...but Mello is so irritating to me. I don't know what it is, but it seems anything involving him just gets to be annoying. I'm hoping he gets toned down soon, because I'll be bummed if I feel this way for the rest of the series. Still good, but I didn't enjoy it as much as some of the other arcs.

Death Note has admittedly had some struggle in the last few volumes, particularly after the death of L, but Volume 8 certainly picks up the pace and brings some much needed tension back into the series! The art is stunning as always and I love just how frightening Light looks in some of these panels and the contrast of Near’s lack of shading works excellently! I do feel that the first two chapter did take their time to get going but once I got past those, I found that this volume really picked up! I do think this series may have jumped the shark in the last few parts but I felt that volume 8 was a good step in the right direction and I hope that this continues into future volumes.
