I loved this book. I cried and cried. Everyone should read this book. I read it at the recommendation of Chelsea's 15 year old stepdaughter. Ironically, I had the book because I had purchased it for Josie over a year ago. Because of the sensitive nature of the topic, I had asked Chelsea to read it before I gave it to her. Chelsea left the library copy sitting out and Josie read it then. I spent time with her last week and she talked about the upcoming movie release and her love for this book. Read it - you won't be sorry.

⭐Plot - this book is about two cancer patient. One survived, with a limp and a mission to imprint himself onto history, and another one clinging onto a miracle and an oxygen cylinder. Seeing how an illness affects and often changes a person was great to read abt too.

Characters- nice, is all i can say. Hazel is a little funny but that's about it. Agustus is interesting, I liked reading him. But none of the other characters are worth talking about.

Writing- it felt too fast paced at times which made this book less memorable for me. Otherwise it's quite OK, easy to read.

⭐The quotes are lovely but impossible, that is, neither of these characters seem like people who would say that. They are people who are having or had near death experiences, so I can understand them having profound thoughts, but them being able to express it so well without being well read or without being writers of any kind felt weird.

⭐what i learnt- the moral that, you don't have to be an old person in a history text book for your life to be worth it, all you need is a few people who will cherish you forever more, is so beautiful I loved it.

Every time I read this book, I hope it hurts less, and it never does, but it is so so beautiful.

It's often difficult for me to find YA books that are both extremely engaging and extremely well written, but this one definitely lived up to my seemingly impossible expectations. Maybe it's too pretentious to say that I really enjoyed the philosophical rantings and ideas throughout, but I thought that, in addition to all of the obvious research necessary to write a book like this, is kind of what makes John Green a good writer.

Not my type of novel but it was on Elon Musk's too read list. Thought it was good but it has a predictable story with no surprises.

I've never read any of John Green's other books, but I started watching Vlogbrothers this past year and I pre-ordered this one. I am a nurisng major, so I enjoy fiction stories that involve medicine, although I know they are usually sad.

Anyways, this book was predictable, but I read a lot of Nicholas Sparks so my mind is automatically going to try and guess the ending, and I'm usually right thanks t his twists. That being said it was an interesting read. I find myself not wanting to give it 5 stars, because although it is very well written, the storyline seemed generic. I guess I should go back and read his other books and see how I like them.

- Beautifully written. I read this after enduring Fifty Shades Darker, so my brain was grateful that I fed it with something substantial.
- It's one of those books you can read over and over again. Are teens even like Hazel and Augustus anymore?
- Okay.

This made me cry. I don't cry so that's something interesting!

Character development and small-world-building was so unique and charming and made me really connect with even the characters that didn't mean a damn in the long-term. The emotions that were invoked from me because of this novel was extremely surprising.

Read it all in a day, I don't regret it.

5/5 stars
