I've read a lot of the books in this series, but somehow missed this one! It was fun to 'go back' and see how Georgie and Sam got their HEA!

Nice little romance, I called books like this fluff books. Doesn’t stand out as spectacular but it’s an enjoyable read, nice filler after reading a book that is deep.

I never read the original version but I did just finish the extended. It was perfect! Sam and Georgie took a common trope and made it exciting. It was a combination of their love and wanting to know if everything would be okay that kept me turning the page. It’s a quick read but nothing from a longer book is sacrificed.

Hot Mess by Lynn Raye Harris is a September 2013 release. I was provided a copy of this book by Victory Editing and Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

Georgeanne is Rick's younger sister, and Rick is Sam's best friend. Rick's family took Sam under their wing when his own parents were less than a loving family unit. Sam has put them up on a pedestal. When Georgie was a kid, she bugged Sam and Rick all the time. But, when Sam comes home on leave from the military, he finds Georgie is a sexy eighteen year old and still has a massive crush on him. But, when you are talking about your best friend's little sister, well, there are just some lines you don't cross.
Twelve years later, Georgie is teaching military personnel. She has a failed marriage and now leads a quiet life. But, when one of her students fails to attend class, after being so diligent in the past, she becomes concerned.
Rick is worried about Georgie and sends Sam to check up on her. While she has the chance, she ask Sam if would check on her student. Perhaps he had been deployed suddenly? Sam agreed to do her this favor, and uncovers a hornets nest.
Sam is now a member of one of the most secretive military operations groups- The "Hostile Operations Team" otherwise known as HOT. Someone now believes Georgie knows something she doesn't. It's Sam's job to protect her.
Well, this book is HOT for sure!!
Sam feels like he is doing the honorable thing by keeping Georgie at arms length. Georgie is insulted and hurt. She's been less than confident since her marriage crumbled and she's a little sensitive.
But, the two of them wind up having to spend a great deal of time together. Georgie uses this opportunity to try and convince Sam that a relationship between them could work.
But, Sam is one stubborn guy.

Sam is one of those rare guys that has set of principles he lives by and sticks to them. This makes him an excellent addition to the HOT. But, these principles don't always work out when it comes to love. Sometimes you have to bend the rules a little.
The chemistry between Georgie and Sam sizzles, and mean SIZZLES!. Physically, these two have no problems, but emotionally, they struggle.
Can the two very different people, from very different walks of life, manage what would be a very unconventional life together?

This the second book in the HOT series and is actually a novella. A quick, sexy read, I absolutely recommend- especially to those of you that enjoy hot romantic suspense, and military heroes.. and who doesn't?
Overall this one gets an A.

I'm going to have to bail on this one. DNF at just 10% because I'm bored, and already reading other books that are much more engaging for me. I knew this one would be a struggle for me - I am so done with the off-limits best friend's sibling trope, so, SO done. But also neither main character's interested me. There is nothing to lure me on.

I really enjoyed the first book in the HOT series from Lynn Raye Harris and was excited to get a review copy from the author through NetGalley.

I really loved both Georgie and Sam in this book. Sam has been fighting his attraction to his best friend's little sister since they were teens. It was totally worth the wait for them both when he finally gave in to their mutual attraction. Hot and sexy describes them as a couple. The fact they were on the run and Sam was protecting Georgie only made it hotter.

While not as suspenseful as the first book in the series, I enjoyed the romance between Georgie and Sam being the focus of this story. There was still some mystery and suspense in this story, but I felt like it was more of a romance with suspenseful elements than an actual romantic suspense. Still a very good addition to this series and a great fast read for anyone looking for a sexy romance.

Georgeanne and Sam have know each other most their lives. Sam and Georgie's brother are best friends. She grew up with all the trappings of a affluent family and Sam grew up across town with parents on the brink of divorce and no real interest in him. Each has always had a place in their heart for the other, Georgie loving Sam from afar, but Sam is convinced his is not good enough for Georgie so he stays away. That is until her brother calls him up and asks for a favor.

I had an immediate connection to Georgie. I adored her spunk, her outlook on life and her ability to look clearly at her past and learn from it. Sam is a battered soul whose family life has caused him to think he is not good enough for someone to love. He knows he is good at his job and that confidence pours out on the page.

This is a novella, and I was sad when I read the last page. I found it to have just enough drama as to what would happen, and plenty of steamy scenes. While this is considered book 1.5 in the Hostile Operations Team series it can be read as a stand-alone. Matt Gerard does make an appearance in this novella and we learn a little of his HEA, but nothing that will get you lost if you haven't read Hot Pursuit. I bet after finishing this novella you will be buying Hot Pursuit!

I received this novella from the publisher via NetGalley for my honest review
