Assigned to students for school (6th grade).  Quick read that doesn’t shy away from some tense/tragic situations but still age appropriate for middle school.

⭐⭐ - 2/5 stars

I taught this as part of my school's curriculum. It's.... not great, but it's historical fiction/inspired by a true story, and not really my thing. My students seemed to like it though and it has a good message.

This was a really good read aloud with Colin. It helped us visualize the lives of the Lost Boys and what life was like for some in Sudan.

Beautifully written character! Salva is based on a real person, and this is the story of his trek as a "Lost Boy" from war-torn Sudan at 11 years old to his life as a young adult in Rochester. Very short and lovely book!
