Okay. A lot happens in this book, and it was such a fun time. I'm not sure why it took me so long to pick this up, but I'm definitely glad I read it when I did because I needed a fast action-packed read that could get me motivated to read again.

First of all, I loved this new kingdom and its technology, it felt like a science fiction novel and I was so there for it! Not only was the magic and setting interesting to read about, but there were also quite a few reveals in this book that I thought was really fun, and we meet up with more friends of Cole's from Arizona.
The fact that Cole has a brother he wasn't even aware of is mind-boggling, and I'm so happy that Hunter is now on the good side, although I'll be honest I didn't always 100% trust him at times

Since this is the third installment of the book, I really appreciated that the scope of the story broadened. Not only do we have more characters (Who could be a little hard to keep track of at times) but were also learning more about how and why the outskirts were created, why the King took his daughter's powers away, and who the real bad guy is. The fact that there is basically a cult following this Nazeem dude kind of threw me for a loop in a good way, and now I'm left wondering... who is this guy? We also meet Dandalus, one of the founding architects of the Outskirts, and I'm really looking forward to learning more about him in the next book.

We also learn more about Shape crafting, which is used to damage normal crafting and it is what happened to Cole in the previous book. I think that as the series moves forward we'll learn more about how it's done, and hopefully Cole will be able to get his powers back!

This third book in the Five Kingdoms series picks up right where [b: Rogue Knight|17571273|The Rogue Knight (Five Kingdoms, #2)|Brandon Mull|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1392235856s/17571273.jpg|24510909] left off. (It is imperative to read this series in order!) Cole, Jace, Mira, Dalton, and Joe are making their way to Zeropolis in search of Mira's sister Constance. Zeropolis is the most technologically advanced of the kingdoms, using the shaping power to create bonded crystals as a source of energy. Once there, however, nothing goes as planned. The allies that they meet up with are under attack and no one seems to know where Constance is. Can Cole and his friends survive these new threats and continue their mission? Recommended for fans of both Science Fiction and Fantasy, grades 5-8.

I wrote:
Cole now has a brother, Mira found another sister, sidekick became a hero…Zeropolis has a great source of technology, fashion and a style for some amazingly talented bots. The NOVA BOMB was the most interesting ending. Therefore, I say the end

I finished this book in two days! (new record!).

He's done it once again! I have to say though this was my favorite entry in the series so far. I think the new Kingdom, Zeropolis had a lot to do with that. The world building in Zeropolis was top notch. You can tell the author put a lot of time into this one since it dealt with a lot more technology. It's also really cool to learn about the different shaping powers each kingdom has. Which just makes this series so enjoyable and fun to read. Lastly, this entry in the series had one of the biggest WTH moments.

This book took me a while to get sucked into. I liked it, but I felt like it wasn't as interesting as the first two in the series. It did have a very satisfying ending with a twist that I didn't see coming, so it was definitely worth the read.

REVIEW OF Crystal Keepers (Five Kingdoms #3) by @writerbrandon

STAR RATING
4.5

SYNOPSIS
Cole Randolph has been to two of the five kingdoms of the Outskirts. Now, he finds himself in Zeropolis, the most technologically advanced of the kingdoms, in search of Mira's sister Constance. Not only that, but Cole and Dalton hope to find more clues regarding the whereabouts of their friends from Earth and how--if--they can return home again. Zeropolis may impress Cole and his friends with its amazing arcade games and artificial intelligence, but none of that will matter if they are captured by the wrong people.

PARTIAL REVIEW
In true Brandon Mull form, the third book is even better than the first two. I actually really liked the science fiction elements of the story. Also, THAT PLOT TWIST, THOUGH. I did want to hear some updates regarding friends from the previous two books (especially Twitch), and sometimes there was proverbial beating of the dead horse.

PARTIAL CONTENT GUIDE
No sex, swearing, drug use, etc. There are physical fights, injuries, and deaths.

BOTTOM LINE
Keep on reading the series, friend! This one will especially appeal to lovers of science fiction.
