The first thriller I’ve ever read. It was odd, I breezed through it. But I am not sure if i like it. On one hand it kept me entertained but on the other, the main character was kind of annoying and the situation was... wow.

I'm sorry but what the hell was this? I fell hard and fast for Kiersten Modglin's books but the last two I've read have been a huge disappointment. Literally no one in their right mind will act the way the main character acted. I guess I was so used to Kiersten's women having strong personalities that you can relate to because this was just so bad.

Loren is a single mother and full time business owner. When fate connects her and Jack, she feels strongly that she has found her match. Soon after their wedding, Jack's mother Coralee moves into Jack and Loren's home, to cope with the loss of her husband. From the very beginning Loren notices that Coralee is doing all that she can to cause problems in their marriage. Jack begs Loren to be patient, explaining that the "acting out" is a cry for help. But things start to get dark and when Loren feels the need to protect her family from potential danger, it might be the driving force that tears her and Jack apart forever.

Listen, this book had me HEATED. Coralee is certifiable and I don't know how Loren lasted as long as she did living in that house with her. Not to mention how absolutely BLIND Jack was to the insanity that was his mother. This book reminded me of Mark Edwards' "Here to Stay." How do you kick out a family member that you have welcomed into your home? This is definitely a book to grab, but be warned - you will be furious at the actions of some of these characters!

I've been dipping my toes in psychological fiction lately. I like to change up genres from time to time, expanding my mind with more than just horror. Compared to my normal reads, I would call some of these psycho books 'slow burns'. This one took a lot of build up before I could really get into it. It starts with a cute meet/ fast falling in love/ and then moves on to the MIL moving in with the newly married couple.
The twisty end made me LOL> read as a comedy, this story was satisfying, but other than that, I couldn't take it too seriously. It's my first read by this author

Mother in law.

Thank goodness I did not have a mother in law like that. The woman was for sure nuts! I don’t feel like the end justifies the means. She went through a lot for very little in return.

Another fantastic, cringy read from KMod! The queen of psychological thrillers never ceases to amaze me. I know I can always count on her books to WOW me! The Mother- In- Law was no exception. The writing style makes it so easy to twist and turn my mind and manipulate me in so many ways. The storyline was so intriguing and kept me interested the entire time. Loren, Jack and Ryn were likable characters and the development of them was so good! No better way to end 2021 than with a great KMod story!
