If you are looking for a modern romance that's an easy read with a happy ending, then this is for you.
I believe in rating books for the genre they are in and the audience they are attempting to reach, for that this book is a four stars for me.

The premise of roommates and the blossoming romance kept my interest all the way through. There isn't quite a "slow burn" here, but more of a "oh ok we both now realize we're into each other" and I honestly liked that. The book laid down some background to lead to that point, and it was kind of refreshing to not have a ton of angst.

I personally related to Tara as someone who wears their heart on their sleeve and speaks their feelings unabashedly. I relate to being so engrossed in Disney and romance novels and movies that you're expectations are a little high. Amy Lea did a good job of taking us through Tara's mentality and reaching a place of self love. We shouldn't have to change who we are and how we think to fit into someone else's standard.

Also, can we get a "Hallelujah" of them going to therapy as a couple near the end?! A multitude of applause for that alone. We need more normalizing of therapy and the need to overcome things in relationships instead of just running away from the potential issues. They loved each other enough to put the work in.

Now, some things I didn't like. There were a few small errors I picked up through the book. I need to start highlighting these so I can lay them out in my reviews. It's usually a small missed word, or incorrect grammar. Not that I'm a perfect editor, but that's the point. If I can see them and pick them out, then surely others could too. It's a small pet peeve of mine in books.

I really liked Trevor, BUT why are the main male characters always so ridiculously handsome, huge, and well hung? I get the appeal, really I do. But wouldn't it also be okay for them to just be normal sometimes?

Overall, 4 stars and would recommend it as a light romance read to others.

A cute slowburn rom-com that is predictable and comforting in a way that you want to cozy up and read a light book by a fire. There were two on page sex scenes, fairly mild

This was sooo adorable!! I really loved Tara and Trevor’s progression from roommates to friends to lovers, it felt very authentic and natural. Tara was a tad TOO relatable at times, and I definitely felt called out, but Trevor revered her, not in spite of but because of all the flaws she saw in herself. Super cute, light, fun read that I would recommend for any and all romance lovers!

Sex in a PUBLIC hot tub? Where a nasty neighbor was in chapters before? The germaphobe in me could never

This was such a cute story that totally took me by surprise in how much I enjoyed it! It had humour, plot and spice which worked so perfectly together to create an amazing love story.

Tara was just the best. She was literally the characters of my dreams. She was literally made for all the bookish girlies. She was romance obsessed and constantly chasing any lead to find her happily ever after. She provided the humour of the story in her lack of filter and stream of consciousness which made her so relatable. I could see so much of myself in her and I loved how it taught the reader to love themself and embrace their true self. To not hide or be scared of being themselves, particularly in relationships where it's easy to worry about being too much. The author had the perfect balance of projecting these worries in the characters, and also having her own it unashamedly. She had so much depth in her because of this, and I connected with her quite deeply and was definitely invested in her story. She also had considerably growth. She was quite naive in her thinking in the beginning, and became more mature and really grew into herself at the end. She realised she didn't need to go searching and trying to create her own romance, when she had it there the whole time. This growth and depth not only made me so relate to her so hard, but also connect with her really well. Trevor was just really something else. I kinda loved how they first met, because it got the awkwardness out of the way and the friendship just really grew from there. He is so caring and supportive, and becomes such a constant in Tara's life. His endless support is what allows her to grow and realise she can be her full self. I loved seeing him grow and become comfortable around her to when he was willing to open up to her and express his feelings. He had a lot of emotional baggage, but never really used it as an excuse for him being an asshole. He acknowledged it, and even though he didn't talk about it, he still tried and he got there in the end. He was also humorous, and I adored how he never shut Tara down and always played into her wild ideas and theories. He was really just the perfect guy, and knew exactly what Tara needed. They were super cute together and just complimented each other so well!

The writing was really great! It was a blend of seriousness, with humour and lightness which made it so addicting. The tension was executed really well and the author made such good use of the slow burn to draw out the connection between the characters. I loved how we went from friendship to romance, as we got to see them connect deeply before pursuing anything romantic. It felt like they actually knew and understood each other, which formed the basis of their relationship. I loved how we had only Tara' pov, as it just elevated the tension and added so much humour to the plot. I adored the concept and plot, I thought it was really clever and unique on the author's part. I enjoyed seeing it bring Trevor and Tara together, and also how it brought the book back to the message of never settling for less. It was just a beautiful message that you could really feel throughout the whole novel. I enjoyed how the third-act break-up, wasn't necessarily them breaking up but moreso them dealing with an issue to make their relationship better in the end.

The only thing that stopped this from being perfect was that the humour felt a bit try hard sometimes. It wasn't enough for it to bother me too much, but it did became a little noticeable and I felt the author could have just let it flow a little bit more natural. I think just not pushing it on the reader so much, and letting them finding some humour in it themselves.

Overall, this was such a fantastic read and am so glad I started the month off on this humorous, but deep story about romance!
