Really enjoyed this one, the characters were fun and the dynamic between the sisters felt very real. I loved Rory’s reaction to realizing she was a werewolf - it felt oddly realistic, and her acceptance kind of reminded me of Oz. Reading my way through Rachel Harrison and I’m loving her characters.

“Just be careful,” I whisper. “I have such sharp teeth.”

A charming rom-com with a furry problem

I’ll start and say this book isn’t written for me. And I went it with expectations that might have been unfair to the book. It’s kinda like Mysterious Skin meets Ginger Snaps/Jenifer’s body. I thought it was a horror but it’s like 10% horror, 40% romance, and 50% Drama. It’s not a kind of novel that works for me. A lot of good horror books don’t have a lot of horror elements and they earn the few moments they have. This book doesn’t earn them and is riddled with cringe dialogue and the main character has a pick me vibe. I also don’t really like romances all the much and it didn’t work as it’s basically based on the fact they were already in love in high school. The “horror” of this book is thin and would maybe make a 13 year uncomfortable. The metaphor the book is going for had a lot of promise using “I was bitten by a werewolf” as a euphemism for being sexually assaulted could have really worked but the book never finishes it! Not for me, only finished it cause it’s an audiobook that I put on 1.5.

I didn't enjoy this one as much as Cackle, but I still appreciated the weird world the author created!
