Emotional roller coaster! I was on the edge of my seat with this book. I was impressed with the amount of details and the accuracy of the events of 9/11.

Ground Zero by Alan Gratz is a historical fiction book published in 2021 based off the event of 9/11. It comes from the point of view of a child who lived through it. I didn't read the whole thing as it is a long novel, but I read the first chapter and another one about the 9/11 event. It was very life-like and well informing. I would use in a 6th grade classroom and older. Definitely not a book for little ones. It is a full on novel. It is good for informing children about 9/11 as they were not alive when it happened. It would be a good read for them as the boy in the story is about their age so they can relate to it.

Yet another amazing read by Alan Gratz. Ground Zero goes between Brandon, a young boy trying to escape the north tower on 9/11, and a young girl living in Afghanistan in 2019 torn between the Taliban and US/Afghan forces at war. Be prepared for some heart wrenching details and to not want to put the book down!
