Books, Christmas, coffee, baked treats and a decorating competition in the same book? Sign me up!
But no kidding, this put me in the holiday spirit.
The angst and mutual pining had me going in this one. It was sweet and wholesome and had big themes of found family but it didn’t shy away from spice.
Also… The string lights scene (ifykyk)

A story by a booklover about a booklover 😏 This is a great holiday-themed book and I can definitely see myself reading it again and again to get into the holiday spirit! But this book is not just for reading during the holidays. Chelsea Curto has written a touching slow burn where two people learn how to work on themselves by slowly falling in love with each other. Bridget helps ease Theo’s anxiety so he can live in the moment instead of the past. Theo gives Bridget a safe space where she can feel and process all of her emotions without feeling judged. Plus, Bridget becomes a confidant to Theo’s 12-year-old daughter, Mac, and I think watching that happen really solidifies Theo’s feelings towards her.

It takes Theo and Bridget a while to get spicy but the build up definitely makes it worth the wait! They both haven’t been in a serious relationship (or even a fun fling) in years so it makes sense for them to take a while to go from neighbors to love interests. Compared to some of Chelsea’s other books, this one has more of a mix of open and closed door scenes. I’m currently hopscotching around her collection and I think she is becoming more confident in her ability to write spicy scenes as time goes on. If you’re looking for more spice, definitely go read her “Love Through a Lens” or “DC Stars” series 😉

Super cute holiday read. Chelsea does such a great job with scene building, building a plot, character development…I loved the spicy scenes, little nods to other amazing books I loved this year too, and a hot mmc.
Could’ve used a bit more snipping in some parts where it just got too long winded, too drawn out. But otherwise I loved it!

In my opinion, Chelsea Curto can do no wrong. This book was everything I needed to wrap up the holiday season: slow burn, forced proximity, grumpy/sunshine, single dad, heartwarming, kick-your-feet-and-squeal-like-a-little-girl sweet while still having spicy elements.

Bridget and Theo are small business owners who entered a contest in their town to decorate their stores for a chance to win a $100,000 prize. After a computer randomly partners them for the contest, the two are forced to spend more time together and learn about each other based on the theme they choose.

In the world of holiday reads, this is Hallmark-level gooey, but spicy enough to satisfy and offset the sweetness. Absolutely loved and will revisit again.

My TBR had been filled with Christmas themed novels since before the season officially began. However, this title totally wasn’t on the list… I, honestly, didn’t know it existed until spotting a random post about it on Bookstagram (by a user I don’t even follow)! I’m so glad that the adorable cover caught my eye, because I couldn’t stop smiling from page one. I can easily say this falls into my top five romcoms—right up there with the forever faves from Hazelwood, Henry, and Thorne. Prepare yourself for a single sitting read through, because the sweet story and freaking swoon-worthy steam will have you hooked.

This was pure “I’m reading this solely for the delusional story” and nothing else. A girl owns a bookstore with a bakery inside and has to compete in a holiday decorating contest with the grumpy hardware store owner next door. Non-realistic, cheesy, Hallmarky, etc. Loved every single second of it.

A good sweet and spicy holiday read. Had more fillers than I expected but an enjoyable read.

Yes it’s a bit slow but Jesus fucking Christ what a great goddamned story. And that ending? Just let me melt into a puddle of goo until I reread it again.
