Listen, I almost didn’t mark this one as read because it’s a little embarrassing, but it was a good plot

Amazing, hot and smart. What else can I say? I totally recommend this book. It has a high chance of burning your panties right off of you, so be warned!!!!

Off the clock

I enjoyed it enough from the sample to buy it though it didn't convince me 100% at the start. I can't say why though. I think I've been reading too many very cosy low angst MM romances in the past month probably so the angstyness of Marin's life felt a bit jarring.

But it was a good and interesting start to a book and I liked it wasn't insta-love and also that time passes in this book (not just the jump, but also later), rather than everything happening in a few weeks.

I liked all the conversations about sex and sexuality and how openly the book discussed these topics and the shame we all attach to sex and our fantasies around it. Was a really nice way to discuss the topic by having her learn from him as a sex therapist.

I was a little disappointed that it's again a virgin FMC. I would have preferred she had at least some hook-ups in the 9 years between the then and now. I just find it a bit boring how the MMC is always such a slut and the FMC this untouched virgin or almost virgin. I prefer it if they had some other experiences as well. I absolutely get it was a plot devise, but feel she could have still had at least a few random hookups so it's wasn't this "she has never been touched by anyone but him" type scenario.

I also hate the catty ex trope. So. Much. And it was used. It often is a dnf for me.

I did finish it in the end, but skipped through most of the last 30%. Just was a bit boring and predictable for me.

My initial reaction upon finishing: I neeeeeed more stars, some new panties and someone to explain to me how everything I thought about sex and control have been so wrong for so long.

My semi-thought out complete review:
Seriously, I don't even know how to write a review for this book that will do it justice. This book is everything that I could ever want in a book but never knew I needed.

This is my 5th book of Roni Loren's and with each one I think I fall more in love with her as an author.

This book is sexy but you know what else, it's smart. It's dirty and it goes places that I never thought I'd want to read in a story but the author manages to go there with nothing but class, dignity and a whole lot of romance where my mind always lead me to believe that romance didn't belong.

I think that every woman deserves a Donovan West in her life and that every woman could take some lessons in strength and perseverance from Marin.

They are both a little bit broken and have spent a long time punishing themselves and belittling their worth while somehow managing to dedicate their lives to helping other people fight their demons. When they are together it's all fireworks and heat. It's messy and it's complicated, but it's beautiful all the same.

I know people will read this blurb and get excited for the smutty side of it but if that's all your expecting from this book then you are in for a surprise. My best description of this book is that it's a lot of talk about sex, sprinkled with the perfect amount of dirty, hot sex wrapped in a whole lot of story.

I'm not ashamed to admit that by the end of the book I'm not sure which was more wet, my face from the crying or my panties from the, well, you know.

I'm 20 minutes out from finishing this book and ready to dive right back in. I'm headed to B&N when the sun comes up to pick up the paperback for my book shelf. So you can gather that my recommendation is that you should read this book. Like. Right. Now.
