Amazing, and very beautifully crafted--Snyder and Lemire make a great team. I loved the mix of prose and classic graphic novel elements, and the oversized aspect of it allows for a more complete chapter. Really looking forward to Book 2 and 3!!

The more I read from him, the more I feel Scott Snyder really shines in his prose. I loved his short story collection, Voodoo Hearts, and now this (more of an illustrated novella than comic books) really cements his incredible ability with prose.

Which, going along with that, the design of this book is absolutely incredible. Whether it be the more traditional comic pages with panels and gutters, or full-page splashes, or pages of mostly text with small designs around it... every single page is gorgeous. I didn't think I liked Jeff Lemire as an artist (though I always enjoyed his writing), but this book shows how great he really is.

The story, too, is incredibly fascinating, philosophical, and expertly paced and crafted.

I'm struggling to find words because it was an experience unlike any other I've had. These two are amazing creators on their own, and together they've created something brilliant and different and thought-provoking and beautiful.

I think my opinion of this was greatly affected by reading it in two halves. There was a week in between reading sessions, and I spent much of the second half feeling confused. I might have to give this one another shot sometime!

It was strange an interesting. I enjoyed the story but found the ending wholly unsatisfying.

Death is a thing of the past people live beyond their age and the only consequence is losing memories after one or two “cycles”.

Unreliable protagonist attempts to discover his lost past and escape his  community.

There is a sweet story about a man’s external yearning is fulfilled by his internal growth which is inspired by his adventure.

Ugh. I am so incredibly disappointed. I can't tell if I'm disappointed with this or myself. Scott/Jeff are simply two of the best working and I love everything they do, but this was just a miss with me. Rambling to the point of annoyance at times with a Schrödinger's cat ending I found totally unacceptable. Oh well.

Really beautiful story, poignant and touching prose. Only marred by a disconnect between two different stories being told; I'm hopeful that they'll come together in the next volumes

Snyder y Lemire hicieron algo bien bonito aquí, combinar la narrativa con comic para contarte un todo y robarte un poco de ti, para que algún día los encuentres 3 libros (o el tomo completo) y recuerdes.
And... maybe... this time I'll be brave <3
