BENEDICK:
Gallants, I am not as I have been.
LEONATO:
So say I; methinks you are sadder.

much ado about nothing walked so enemies to lovers could run
This is probably my 2nd favorite comedy by Shakespeare (the first being "Comedy of Errors").
Full of dueling wit and a sub-plot replete with tension, it is laugh-out-loud funny.
Even with the subplot, it is one of the easier plays to follow and, in line with the other comedies, doesn't feel as heavy as the Histories or Tragedies (or as the comedy "Love's Labors Lost").
I'll spare you a synopsis or review of style or word use. It's Shakespeare after all and there is so much delight you should expect.

4.5/5stars
2019 November:
Had to read this for grad school LOL upping it slightly to 4.5 stars because I'm becoming very fond of this play from doing it so often
2019 January:
I had to read this one for a class this winter semester and I still really love this play, like I said before, its not my favorite and I think I enjoyed it more when I was in high school, but this was a lot of fun especially watching it alongside and comparing it to the 2012 movie adaptation. I adore Beatrice and Benedick still
2018:
this one was a reread for me, and though I didn't enjoy it as much as I had when I studied it back in high school, I still really loved it! Beatrice and Benedick are Shakespeare's best comic relief and the ridiculousness of this entire book is just so fun and charming. I forgot how DRAMATIC this play was though if I'm honest, and it made me remember why I didn't care that much about Claudio and Hero's storyline lol. Dogberry is also one of my favorite Shakespeare characters. Overall, I feel like this play definitely gets overshadowed by "Midsummer Night's Dream" (which I do agree is better) but its still such a fun comedy!

old fave that combines tropes enemies-to-lovers, idiots in love, and, “hey, if you love me you’ll kill that guy for me”
