Reid and I read this out loud to each other over the course of Labor Day weekend. I got it from the library in the hopes that a swashbuckling series would have him interested but he refused to pick it up, so I started reading it aloud and he was interested immediately and did not want to stop. Stuart Gibbs does that. In this one a young boy (and his parents) time travel back to meet up with the three musketeers. It is inventive and interesting for sure. It made me want to read the Alexander Dumas Novel to see what he pulled from it besides characters. Unlike other books (ex. Land of stories) where people are pulled out of their world, this one doesn’t end with them going back, it just sets up a new adventure. Not sure how I feel about that, but overall a quick fun read.

I read this soon after reading [b:Belly Up|6760793|Belly Up (FunJungle #1)|Stuart Gibbs|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1267406352s/6760793.jpg|6958059] by [a:Stuart Gibbs|3040652|Stuart Gibbs|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1417564329p2/3040652.jpg], who wrote this book. I loved [b:Belly Up|6760793|Belly Up (FunJungle #1)|Stuart Gibbs|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1267406352s/6760793.jpg|6958059], so I decided to give it a try. Pretty sure I liked it, but that was five years ago. I can't tell you what exactly it's about, but I'll give it three stars because it wasn't my favorite book.

This was an inventive time travel story, and I really loved the realistic descriptions of life in Paris in the Late Middle Ages. The plot kept me guessing and the pacing was urgent and fun. I like the puzzles that Gibbs weaves into his stories. I'd recommend this one!

I have no idea whether this was a good story or not. I was too distracted by the author repeatedly describing 1615 Paris as “medieval.” If you want to write time travel/historical fiction, you should probably learn the basics of history first, like the very basic start/end dates of major historical periods.
