Multiple magical systems, characters that grow slowly, and general lore that all start off with numerous lovely but individual strands... which then weave together more and more, tighter and tighter, until they're all so skillfully linked that it's startling to remember that the first few books were mistaken as so standalone, and you're looking at a completed tapestry which is a beautiful and heart touching fantasy epic.

Zifnab, Fizban,  Zanfib, my buddy, my pal, our eternal savior and pain in the ass... you are the ultimate goat. May you always find your hat.

This is some kinda hot pile of garbage. Eagh. I started hate reading about a quarter into it. Was hoping to get some clue to the overarching mystery, should've stuck to Cliff Notes or something. I am going for the third book, if there's no improvement I'm dropping these racoon scribbles.

I've read this series so many times, and this book remains a fav! The hilarious bumbling wizard and the mysterious dragon totally make the book 🤣 The world building in this series is absolutely unmatched, read it to feel the her of the jungle, and the breath of the deadly titans at your neck...

I enjoyed this one just about as much as Dragon Wing.
Another very interesting world, and mysteries to be revealed towards the end.

I'm enjoying the concept of this 7 volume series very much. I know the next two are stories of the other two worlds, and I'm sure they'll be as fun and interesting as the past two have been, from the reviews I've seen so far.
Like other reviewers, I, too, was annoyed with Zifnab's real-world remarks. It took away from the authentication of the fantasy world for me.
But that didn't detract from my overall enjoyment. I'm looking forward to the next volume, soon.

I liked the first book, but I thought this one was better. The characters were easier to attach myself to. I thought Zifnab and his dragon were hilarious. I liked the sense of urgency that most of the book had. It felt really fast-paced. Also, I liked learning more about the background of Haplo, and what is going on in these worlds. Definitely a winner.

A good follow up to Dragon Wing. The mysteries continue to evolve and tickle your interest level. Looking forward to #3 in the series.

This was interesting and I enjoyed the characters and the storyline I guess. However, I hate that I get immersed in the characters and their lives, and then that's the end of it. The only consistent character, Haplo, is a jerk and I don't like him or care for him. I dont know if we will revisit these characters later in the series, but it does not seem likely due to the large number of "worlds" in relation to the number of books. Also, I know it was just small jokes, but the references to real-world, non-book events and people were awkward and felt out of place. I definitely rolled my eyes a few times.
The relationships were also a bit weird. I know Disney has made it's magic on love at first sight, but the romances were awkward and I'm not sure how they happened. They just kind of appeared out of nowhere, and then somebody is kissing somebody and they walk away and act like they kissed to insult each other. What? That's weird.
