Another wonderful historical JFic — this one about pre revolutionary life in Williamsburg. I enjoyed the intro to the revolution, tho the gloss over the slave issue was disappointing (Felicity’s family owns a few). It was also a reminder that there’s more ways to participate in a revolution or movement aside from fighting

Also, my sweet animal lover thoroughly enjoyed the rescue of Penny the horse

3.5 rounded down to 3 just because I am an adult now not a kid but the series is as cute as I remember. Reading thru all 6 books today.

I listened to this collection on audiobook for the first time in probably over 15 years, possibly closer to 20. I loved these as a kid, but I’d forgotten everything that happened, so it was like reading it for the first time all over again! I love that.

This was the full collection of Felicity’s six books. They’re so short I didn’t really want to add each one individually. The length of each audiobook was about an hour, so the whole collection was only six hours long.

My favorite of the set was Felicity Learns a Lesson. I loved hearing all about tea time and their stitching. Felicity’s stories are so wholesome.

Felicity is fine but definitely far from my favorite. I definitely related to her losing her grandfather, but other than that, that's about all the connection I had with her. She does show some character development throughout the story, which is nice.
adventurous challenging hopeful informative inspiring lighthearted reflective medium-paced

Definitely remember Felicity's stories being much cooler but alas in the last book her mother says to her, "...think of how you've changed in the past year. You're not the flighty, headstrong cold you used to be." Much of this series is about how fun "taming" girls can be interspersed with Patriot vs Loyalist history.

But don't get me started on the fact that her grandfather owned a PLANTATION and the book never even gave those enslaved a second thought? Abolitionists did exist in this time period!

So excited that Felicity is back!

I found the Felicity books fascinating because I had actually been to the place where the books take place - Williamsburg, VA. It's so cool that Williamsburg is preserved and you can see where people like Felicity lived and worked and went to school. Anyway, so her stories were especially interesting to me because I knew about the places. The stories dealt with exactly what was going on at that time - the relationship between the Loyalists and the Colonist rebels. Felicity's best friend is a Loyalist, so is her Grandfather. However, her family is not. They do things differently to defy the king and support the colonies. Also, her daily life is very similar to girl's daily life now - she goes to school, she plays with her friends and siblings, and she has chores to do. I just love these books.

We listened to these during and after our trip to Williamsburg. I was surprised that even the boys really got into the story.
