3.5 stars. Liked it more then the first book, could finely separate the book from the show and enjoy the book as it own story. While the mystery wasn't one of the best it was an engaging story over all.

Finished this in the wee hours of the morning, swearing the whole time. Why? Cos I couldn't go to sleep until the book was over with. I needed to know what was going on and who was responsible. Excellent book for those who are into forensic mysteries.

This book had JUST come out when the library lady started working on me to read these books... When I finally succumbed, I was hooked. So I had to start on my sisters...

Now they're as addicted as I am -- along with many people who only read the books because of the TV show -- and I'd bet most of THEM only started watching because of David Boreanaz :-)

This was a good book. I enjoyed all the twists and turns. It was my first book by this author and I'm pleased.

A comment I made on the first Brennan novel — that the Brennan in the novels is very different from the Brennan on the television show Bones — still holds true. There is a vast improvement in this second installment in that sexual tension begins to develop between the female lead Brennan and her main companion Andrew Ryan. In conjunction with the science aspect of the novel, I was very entertained. Where the author’s style bugged me sometimes before, this time I took it in stride more easily.

I read this first back in 2015 so it was fun to re-read having forgotten almost everything! I looooove the level of detail we get when it comes to forensics and bones and decomposition and how many tricks science has to figure out cause and time of death! Some of the twists and coincidences were a little unbelievable, but overall the story was fun and a page turner. Can’t wait to move on to book 3!

This is the first book of the author that I have read and I liked it for the most part. Some parts were interesting, like the process of forensics. I'm also a big fan of bones (no the TV show to get confused with; I really like bones especially a heart on for a scapula) yet I have never seen the TV show. Some of the details in the book did bug me. One big one being that everything to Temperance was always having some important personal tie to her. I get like having a sister, Harry, be close to her but everybody in some way shape or form having a personal connection was just too far fetched.

I've been getting into more thriller and mysteries and this is serious that I might have to pick up another Reichs even though this book took a while to get into the overall ending.

Kathy Reichs' puts just enough suspense in these books to keep you on the edge of your seat wondering what is going to happen next. The character development is excellent. Temperance Brennan is one tough cookie. I am excited to continue reading this series.
