This would have been so much better without the romance angle. The romance fell flat, felt rushed, and there wasn’t any chemistry. There were also an awful lot of words said to advanced the story very little. I found myself spacing out while listening just to realize I hadn’t actually missed anything. It just barely held me on to get to the end.

Heerlijk boek. Helemaal wat je kan verwachten van Mhairi: een tikkeltje romantiek, een hoop fijne personages gecombineerd met een wat zwaarder thema in dit geval toxische relaties en trauma's. Het is een evenwichtsoefening die maar weinigen tot een goed einde weten te brengen, maar deze auteur slaagt er toch iedere keer weer in.

If you think you know what’s going to happen in this book, I promise you don’t. I feel like I went through so much with Harriet since the beginning of this book. I saw so much character growth and relationships (platonic and not) come and go. I definitely feel like this is more literary fiction with a subplot of romance which is my favorite!
