4.5. The romance was more of a subplot but that was completely fine with me.

This was a wonderful surprise because I was expecting a typical contemporary romcom, but this book did not follow that formula. It was almost an anti-romcom. It’s very funny and witty, with great pacing, but rather than jumping straight into the romance, the main character has to reckon with the effects of a bad, past relationship and find closure first. It’s a lovely adventure of self-realization, revenge, and new beginnings. I listened to the audiobook and enjoyed the narration.

Entertaining, but not earth shattering. I wanted to listen to a dumb little romance and this was perfect- was actually not too dumb tbh.
Felt like all the character growth was a little young for the 34 year old main character but they didn’t ruin the book.

I really liked it, just wanted more depth in everything: the romance, the friendships, the betrayals, the messy emotions. I loved Cal but felt like we only got a glimpse of him and his connection with Harriet. Some big moments flew by too fast :( Still, I enjoyed it so much I’d happily read 300 more pages just to dive deeper 🩵

This is not what I was expecting the plot to go in this book but was presently surprised about the depth it gave and of course the angst of slow burn romance.
