i already knew a very large chunk of the information in this- it was informative to see all of the parts working together and how they have been a growing mass feeding and working with each other. An infuriating but insightful read

Really really eye opening book and an incredibly heart wrenching read where closing the book doesn't distance you from the horror. Bates does an amazing job slowly presenting the case of extreme misogyny as terrorism and the different layers/fonts of radicalization that lend support for extreme misogyny in the west. She made a vital contribution by identifying the problem and for that alone this book is a must read. Her call to action left me feeling rather bleak as it banks on male role models stepping up and doing their part for gender equality, Im just not feeling that hopeful. I understand her argument and agree, its just disheartening to see how much needs to change and how little you can do or say given your audience.

Jesus Christ, guys.  What the fuck?

I thought I was more aware of the issues with the subject of this book--extreme misogynists.  However, I can see now that I only knew about a fragment of just how screwed up this all is, from mass violence acts commited by members of this community, with knowledge of others within these groups, to just the levels of seeming insanity by those caught in these more violent circles, and the disgusting tactics, habits, and mentalities of those who believe themselves the more tame versions.

While something I've always heard about, I think what I really needed was to see it spelled out, given specific case studies, and shown the magnitude of this trend of young males in our present world, to really understand its severity.

This book, for that reason, does its job perfectly, and I'm definitely glad I read this.

But for real, what the fuck, guys?
