I liked this but can’t get over the pretentious way it was written like so tedious to read because you keep having to reread sections to make sure you’re not missing anything and really taking it in but not in a fun way

I was fairly certain who the murderer was before the midway point. It seemed pretty obvious. I was right. I would demote the detectives on this case. Not bad..not great either.

fun little mystery! will want to read more in this series. harbinder kaur is a great character and really added to my enjoyment of this book :)
A book within a book as a gothic horror novel appears to be inspiring a very modern murderer. Elly Griffiths’ books often have a hint of the supernatural, an this standalone has a great big helping. An enjoyable read, and nicely wrapped up. I enjoyed the shifting viewpoints between the female leads (yay for female leads!) and hope DS Kaur might make a reappearance in the future.
