Wow. This is the book that has gotten me back into reading and I can’t think of a more perfect way to do so. Non stop page turning action chapter after chapter, character development can seem a little repetitive at times but the plot twists make it all the worthwhile, gut wrenching ending and excited for what’s to come in the sequel 5/5

Great action, interesting world. More or less archetypal farmer's revenge fantasy story that gets a bit derailed when the author injects larger world plots, which the main character goes along with because... reasons?
I really liked this book. Captivating and built in a world with which I was wholly unfamiliar. Characters were great, magical system imaginative and fully immersive.
The two books in this series were very good, though it seems unclear whether we can expect more from this author. If not, my best wishes to him in the hopes that he is well and may once again returns to crafting stories.

Man, I looked forward to getting back to this book each day. Which is hilarious because I wasn't terribly in the mood for it when I got started but watching Tau's constant progression kept me hooked. It's solid vengengce plot packed full of action. The lore and magic and worldbuilding are stand out.
I do hope the next book has more character conflict and development and also development for the secoundary characters.
There was a lot of unanswered questions about the Chosen's homeland, underworld and magic I can't wait to read more.
