Gordon Ramsay has been a fascinating subject of study in television and in food. I've enjoyed his television shows Hell's Kitchen US, Hotel Hell, and Kitchen Nightmares. I have visited two of his restaurants and enjoyed his food and admired his passion for creating amazing eats. Reading his autobiography should've been a natural step for me, but I had no idea it even existed until it was given to me.
This book was a revelation in Gordon's background. I had no idea what his background was and I really hadn't even considered his beginnings. I can't imagine having the upbringing he's had, or even some of the experiences he had. I specifically enjoyed his candor and the fact that so much of his personality and voice are on the page. So much of his life is so greatly different from my own that I couldn't help but feel a certain amount of empathy and renewed admiration for all the hard work he's put into creating a better life for himself and for his children.
This autobiography is, at times, funny, poignant and always refreshingly honest. You won't find any recipes in this book, but if you're a fan of the man himself, this book is a recommended read! The only thing I'd say you might want to be aware of is that since the book is written in a conversational, personal tone, there is a lot of British terminology and phrases that you may not be overly familiar with. I wouldn't say that it's a criticism of the book since I quite enjoy learning more about British culture and slang, I didn't mind it. Generally speaking, you understand the context of the phrasing and may not need to look it up.

Good, but some stories he told were slow and kind of confusing.

7/10. very interesting early life. i had no idea his childhood was so rough. became a little tedious describing business deals but the bits about hells kitchen were great. quick read, interesting enough if you like his stuff.
Don't read enough biographys to be honest. But found this when I looked for a shorter audiobook to listen to and I'm very happy i decided to pick it up. Gordon Ramsay is a bit of an food icon. He's very entertaining to watch on TV and he seems to be very skilled at cooking, would be so cool to try some day. (hey everyone can dream). In this he tells you about his life and of though and difficult it has been, but he's very honest in that he might not always done the right thing. I like it when people are honest and not trying to paint them self in a better life but instead show his humanity. This biography made me like him even more and see him as more then what I've seen on TV.
