An epic blend of sci-fi, romance, dystopia, and feminist criticism. The plot is gripping and the protagonist really captures interest. Thought the Zero section reminded me of Manson and the communes of the 60s/70s - a later mention of Sharon Tate linked to this nicely. The discussion surrounding sex and gender in this is huge. Huge potential for feminist and gender critique. However, the scenes of extreme sexual violence are very disturbing - this is not a peaceful read.
